Synopsis

When Zachary Beaver Came to Town
When a one man sideshow rolls into Granger, TX claiming to showcase "the fattest boy in the world," the lives of two small-town teens are changed forever in this touching coming-of-age tale based on the National Book Award-winning novel by Kimberly Willis Holt. Zachary Beaver (Sasha Joseph Neulinger) is a morbidly obese teen who travels from town to town with his best friend and business partner Paulie Rankin, earning money off of his unusual appearance. When curiosity gets the best of Granger kids Toby (Jonathan Lipnicki) and Cal (Cody Linley) and they decide to check out the show, the unlikely bond that forms between Zachary, Toby, and Cal marks the beginning of an unforgettable summer of fun, growth, and friendship. ~ Jason Buchanan, Rovi

The aliens may have technology that dwarfs that of anything created by humankind, but even their biggest army of virtual-reality beasts is no match for the imagination of a child. Now, as the fight for planet Earth comes to the suburbs, these cosmic creeps are about to learn an important lesson in interstellar humility. ~ Jason Buchanan, Rovi

EZ Money
A mischievous nine-year-old girl's quick and simple get-rich-quick scheme hits an unexpected hitch when she incurs the wrath of a powerful gangster who is determined to hold onto his money in director Dan T. Hall's fast-paced family comedy. Molly Thompson has been sent to the principal's office yet again. A computer savvy pre-teen with a terminal case of curiosity, Molly intercepts an e-mail from a supposed Nigerian diplomat offering $3 million to anyone who can help him transport some stolen funds. When Molly combines her keen business sense with her nine-year-old brother Alex's killer skills at the keyboard, it appears as if the entrepreneurial siblings have netted their first cool million. Their celebration is cut somewhat short, however, upon learning that the fraudulent e-mail was not actually from a Nigerian diplomat in genuine need of help, but an international mobster whose clever scheme has pulled in piles of cash. As with any self-respecting gangster, this malicious Mafioso isn't about to see his plan foiled by a couple of scheming kids, and soon sets out to ensure that his cash stays put. ~ Jason Buchanan, Rovi

But now Molly's mom is gone, leaving the lonely young girl and her father to care for her sickly grandfather Pappy. And lately Cappy's medical bills have been adding up, to the point where Molly's dad has considered selling the family home just to stay financially afloat. Her memories drifting back to the stories of high adventure and untold riches, Molly rounds up a group of her most loyal friends and vows to find the treasure that will save her family. Now, the deeper the Lil' River Rats drift into the wilderness, the more they begin to wonder whether the tales of treasure were actually true, or just an imaginative story for a restless child. ~ Jason Buchanan, Rovi

Bailey's Billion$
The phrase "it's a dog's life" takes on a whole new meaning in this family-friendly comedy. When eccentric billionaire Constance Pennington passes on, she leaves her entire fortune to her closest companion, Bailey. However, there's something that sets Bailey apart from most of the nuevo riche -- Bailey is a golden retriever dog. Bailey's best human friend is Ted (Dean Cain), a handsome but nerdy animal behaviorist who has learned to communicate with Bailey in "dogish." Ted looks after the wealthy pooch with Bailey's blessings, but Bailey's new fame and wealth don't sit well with everyone -- Caspar Pennington (Tim Curry), Constance's nephew, is infuriated that a dog has inherited his aunt's fortune. With the help of his shrewish wife, Dolores (Jennifer Tilly), Caspar sets up the Animal Rights and Research Foundation (ARRF), and installs Ted on the boards alongside Marge (Laurie Holden), a cute single mother and animal rights activist. But Caspar and Dolores hardly have benevolent aims in mind -- ARRF is supposed to keep Ted and Marge busy while the Penningtons kidnap Bailey and find a way to prove to the world that Ted has been abusing the dog. Jon Lovitz provides the speaking voice of Bailey. ~ Mark Deming, Rovi

One night, Daniel wishes on a star for a cool pet who will be loyal and never forget him; the next morning, he wakes up to discover that an elephant named Lumpy has taken up residence in his backyard. Steven isn't keen on the idea of keeping an elephant as a pet and gives the animal to a local zoo, but Daniel hatches a plan to steal Lumpy back -- which is when the boy discovers his new friend has magical powers. Also released as The Incredible Elephant, The Impossible Elephant also stars Mia Sara. ~ Mark Deming, Rovi
