Petty & Nashville Cats Posted by: from: on Unmistakably, Tom Petty with a couple of old buddies from way back and a couple of Heartbreaker mainstays. This outing lets TP relax and just play with no lofty expectations. The result is another gem of southern tinged Rock & Soul from another time and era. The "old buddies" Tom Leadon & Randall Marsh bring a freshness to the Petty camp that make this disc a must have for any Petty fan.

A different kind of Tom Petty Posted by: from: Manhattan Beach, CA on First and foremost, if you liked the first Mudcrutch album then go ahead and buy this one. You will not be disappointed. It continues much in the same vein as their first release. For those not familiar with Mudcrutch, this is a band that Tom Petty was in before he made it big. The group is a combination of a rock/blues band. The album includes some heartfelt lyrics with a satisfying tune. Be warned, this isn't the Tom Petty show. Mudcrutch really is a band effort and if you are solely looking for a new Petty album then you may be disappointed.

The newest Tom Petty side project is just okay Posted by: from: on After eight long years, Mudcrutch gives us their second full length album. For those who are not aware, Mudcrutch was originally put together in 1971, before Tom Petty form the Heartbreakers. In 2008, the group reunited with original members, Petty, Benmont Tench, Mike Campbell(from the Heartbreakers), Tom Leadon( brother of Eagles founding member Bernie Leadon), and Randall Marsh. This newest release is a odd mix of country and Southern rock that just doesn't hit the target like I expected. It's a good first listen, but I lost interest after that. Pretty much a disc for die-hard Petty fans.

Superb comeback album! Posted by: from: on All songs are amazing. The chemistry and musicianship between TP, Mike Campbell, Benmont and the 2 other original players from 1972 ish makes a perfect record in 2016. Looking forward to obtain the LP version as well.

Petty's Barn Burners Posted by: from: on Mudcrutch brings a fresh approach to the Tom Petty sound. It's more blues and rockabilly than Heartbreakers music. I think it's some of his best work in years. The first Mudcrutch record was excellent so I'm glad to report this is a worthy successor. A real band effort, each member gets their own lead track. Mike Campbell and Benmont Tench join Petty on these projects, a reunion of their band when just starting out. This is great stuff. Highly recommended.
