Synopsis

Synopsis
The stadium shakes with a thunderous roar from the crowd as your heart pounds beneath your jersey. This is the moment you've been playing for your entire life — the chance to hoist the World Cup. You run onto the pitch with your countrymen to start the match with the weight of a nation on your shoulders. The faceoff is won, you take the pass and head up the field, dribbling the ball and dodging defenders as you make your way toward the goal. The keeper's and your eyes meet — he thinks left, you head right — and you fire a rocket toward the net.

2010 FIFA World Cup: South Africa lets you take on the world in the largest sporting event on the planet. Lead your home nation from qualifying all the way through to the FIFA World Cup Final, and make history when you raise the World Cup as the greatest soccer country on the globe. Incredibly detailed visuals and gameplay from all 10 officially licensed stadiums, including confetti cannons, streamers, flags and fireworks, provide a lifelike experience. After you've claimed the Cup in local gameplay, compete against other players around the world online in the first-ever full and authentic 2010 FIFA World Cup online tournament. Prove your nation is the best soccer power in the world.

Features

  • Compete as one of 199 teams and lead them through qualifying right to the 2010 FIFA World Cup final
  • Play in any of the 10 officially licensed stadiums
  • Dribble, pass, kick and score against other top players in the world online in the first-ever full 2010 FIFA World Cup online tournament
  • Unique altitude effects let the ball fly faster and further when playing in stadiums at higher altitudes
  • True-to-life details provide all the emotion and pageantry of the official tournament — confetti cannons, streamers, giant banners, seat cards, flags and fireworks bring the stadiums to life
  • Players will fatigue faster in higher altitudes due to a decrease in stamina versus playing at sea level

Posted by: from IL on 05/06/2011I'm not pro in sim sport games, but this one got me adicted for a long time. Beautifull gameplay, real events, and it was relesed at the time of 2010 World Cup, so you can play and replay a real match in the way you like. I won 2010 World Cup by Spain in few hours before the real match were showed on TV. Love this game.

Relive your World Cup dreams

Posted by: from Los Angeles, CA on 09/29/2010While I've been a fan of football (yes, the real one!) for a long time, the games have been a bit more wanting. I suppose it is difficult to accurately mimic their fluid movements and subtle footwork, but as time goes on, the games seem to get more realistic EA did a great job in this edition of the World Cup game to capture the glory of reliving your Cup fantasies. Most of the big footballing countries are usually well-represented with almost near likeness of each footballer. You can also play other countries that weren't actually in the final 32 this year. There's a feature to update your squads to a more current list- I forget as to how recent, but at least the real WC squads should be correct The negative things about this game are more subjective and personal (Brasil's Kak√°'s squad number is NOT 31 but 10) and the ref is a bit more lenient in ignoring potential fouls on your team. However, little things like this don't diminish the quality and fun of the game It's been nearly three months since Spain hoisted the Cup in victory but I'm still enjoying this game~

Fun for All

Posted by: from St. Louis, MO on 07/10/2010Great game for the entire family that has provided endless fun. Graphics are fantasic and gameplay is very realistic. The multiple levels of difficulty provide a challenge for players of all skill levels. It's also been very educational. My 6 year old can now recognize on sight the flags of many of the countries in the game. It also allowed him to become familiar with the big names of the sport which heightened his awareness and interest in the actual World Cup matches. The game also comes with a great soundtrack. Would highly recommend this game to anyone who likes soccer or sports related games.

Posted by: from SF on 05/20/2010For the past 5 years EA sports has managed to improve on little things as I can see. I think their focus is to make as much money as possible, so the improvements are very gradual and incremental. FIFA 2010, and WC 2010 are essentially very similar. The game play is 90% identical. So I don't get the hype other than the fact that it is a World Cup thing. Well at least this time, they did get the names of most players correctly. Now if they just get all the faces right, I think they'll reach the apex. But, seriously, I think getting all the faces right will be EA's new improvement, and a way to make even more cash. Overall the game is good and fun. Internet and multiplayer play is the best. But I do think that all these EA spor's games, especially soccer need something to spice things up, and not make the game look like they used to on PS-1.
