bring out the action Posted by: from: on The movie is well detailed. The 3D is real good. The battle scenes have some good 3d effects ,but nothing compares with Avitar. There are some off the screen coming to you 3D but not as much as Avitar. The sound is very good and the dark scenes are in good detail .

Sctuslly Decent Movie Posted by: from: Florida on Actually the movie is not that bad, It has very good 3D effects al lot of action and a lot of blood I mean a lot, I felt like I was watching mortal kombat. This is not a sequel or prequel is like the movie goes on par with the first then beyond making look like there will be a third. Overall enjoyable movie few fake scenes here and there like the horse part, but a good movie.

Lots of action and special effects. Posted by: from: on Great fight scenes on the water. The movie brings the action up close. The 3D effect makes the movie even more exciting to watch.

For a Sequal without Primary actor, A- Posted by: from: Los Angeles, CA on This movie, as a sequal, cannot stand on it's own. To watch this movie without watching the first 300 movie would cause someone to still be entertained, but would have confusion with the character back story. i.e. the messenger that was kicked into the bottomless pit in the 300 ("This is Sparta" scene). The Non-linear story doesn't help either. For someone that did watch the first movie, the jumping back-and-forth feels like a Tarantino-esk attempt but comes up short. Also, if watching with young teens that are olde enough to watch violent, or with older folks (Parents or "uncle Joe") it can get a little awkward and uncomfortable with a few nude scenes. With that said, the action sequences are amazingly done with great cinematography. When I first realized that these battles scenes would primarily take place at sea, I lost interest. Once the first action sequence took place, I was very impressed. While it may not live up to the level of the first movie, it is an action filled movie that will entertain. I would recomend it to a friend if I knew their taste in movies, but would not make a sweeping recommendation to everyone.

Not bad for a sequel... Posted by: from: San Antonio, TX on As sequels go, Rise of an Empire does a better job than most. It's not an Aliens-level sequel, but it's definitely a worthwhile watch. If you can separate yourself from the original 300, it's even better, as the crew made an obvious attempt to keep what worked about it, but then distance themselves the rest of the way. The cinematography is great, the 3D does a wonderful job with depth of field, and the CG is, for the most part, every bit what you would expect from a 300 sequel. The film also manages to explain a couple of the plot holes left over from the first film, such as the God King's backstory. That said, it definitely has a few moments that made me go "really?" All in all, though, it was a thoroughly pleasant experience and will certainly get multiple viewings from me.

Sequels never live up to the hype Posted by: from: Duluth, MN. on I was expecting More. Most sequels are never as great as the original movie, as is the case with this. I was happy to see they kept with the same cinematography as the original 300, and I appreciated most of the sound track. But the Plot was thin, predictable and just not that engrossing. I would recommend it for a rental. Buy not a need to own.

It's a movie Posted by: from: Melbourne, FL on It works fine and I now have it as a digital copy on my iPad. I like the 300 movies. I have not watched in 3D yet however. It comes in both versions.

a tad bit more than 300 Posted by: from: Prescott, AZ on Not a sequel or prequel, this film more or less takes place at the same time as the original 300. I believe that this was post-converted to 3d. Post 3d conversion has markedly improved in the last few years to the point that sometimes it is difficult to tell the difference between movies filmed in 3d and those post converted. That being said, it still doesn't reach the level of Hugo or Life of Pi. There is a plot, but it really doesn't matter. The sole purpose of this film is to see warriors get dispatched by various means. Acting is ok, but you can never go wrong with Eva Green. While not a must see film, it is worthwhile to add to your 3d collection.
