Never make an electronics purchase with out one. Posted by: from: on Going on 20 years now, we have only purchased our electronics from Best Buy and we always purchase the Geek Squad Protection. It is great and has paid for itself many times. The Customer Service is always great!

Great Protection Plan Posted by: from: on I don't usually buy extended warranties, but as this was our first flat screen TV, we decided to purchase one. Good thing too, less than 2 1/2 years after purchase the screen went black on the TV. Geek Squad could not repair it, so we are waiting on the replacement TV at no additional cost. We only have two TVs in our home (by choice)...the main one went down, and the other is in the teenager's room. So the only thing I would suggest to Geek Squad, is to speed up the process. Hopefully if we receive the replacement TV on time, it would have taken a little over 2 weeks from the 1st call for service to resolution/replacement. It took 1 week just to get the tech out to our home.

Bad follow through Posted by: from: on I had purchased a tv a few years ago. The customer service rep who scheduled the original ticket, was great. The tech that came out was unprofessional, didn't show up on time, didn't call before showing up the first time, and wasn't able to fix the tv because they didn't have the parts. They changed wires out and left. I left the country on business and when I came back my tv was still exhibiting the same behavior. It was past the 30 days for a "redo" but the customer service rep I spoke to on the second call said that my geek squad protection has expired and they would fix it but it would cost me a couple hundred dollars. I explained that the first attempt to fix it was a failure. They told me that the notes specified that there was audio but no video. And what I was describing was a different problem. I explained the issue wasn't that the behavior was different and a new problem hadn't surfaced, but simply the tech didn't fix my tv and did a poor job of taking notes. After hanging up and calling back I got a helpful rep. They scheduled a redo. The tech didn't show up. I then called again. Again had to cycle through reps to get a helpful one. They apologized and scheduled a new appointment . The tech comes out, does a software update on the tv, and leaves. Problem persists... The tech says he will schedule a repair. I called and asked when they would show up with parts to fix the tv. They said they had no appointment scheduled. I asked them to schedule the repair and to order the parts that were mentioned in the notes. The next appointment was also a no show because they didn't have the parts ordered. They rescheduled that appointment and now my tv works great!

Why not Posted by: from: on Most people won't go for a 5 year extended warranty, but for $149. on a $700.purchase TV that would last under 10 years I figure it's worth the price. My last TV was less then 7 years old when it went. Who knows if the new ones will last that long.

Great coverage Posted by: from: on I've never bought a TV, that hasn't had problems at some point. I've always gotten the extended warranty through geek squad, and they have been great when I've had to use it in the past. I would recommend to always get this coverage when investing a lot of money.
