Awesome SteelBook copy of the original, (1984) A Nightmare on Elm Street on Blu-Ray. My only "issue" is, wondering why they chose an image of Freddy taken from the movie Freddy vs Jason, to include as the ONLY image to add on the back of the SteelBook for the original NOES movie? Why not a still of him from this movie?! Anyway, that petty criticism aside, I highly recommend this, especially if you're a collector of SteelBooks! A-

I pre-ordered this by mail. Received it in a timely fashion product arrived in great shape with no damage. But when I opened it no insert or booklet with the digital code. So I returned it to my local BESTBUY located in Aberdeen, NC. The staff was helpful and friendly. It was exchanged for a replacement. So I opened the new replacement on the spot in front of the staff...NO DIGITAL CODE. Yes, we have a problem here. The store had one more in stock. The manager open the third Blu-ray...ONCE AGAIN NO DIGITAL CODE! Disappointed to say the least. I am willing to bet there are more Nightmare On Elm Street (SteelBook) out there with no digital codes inside. I don't blame BESTBUY for the lack of a digital code that falls on the distributor of this particular product. However, BestBuy does need to address this some how. Just not getting what you paid for here. Maybe all who purchase this Blu-ray receive the code via email or something. I included a picture in my review so there would be no misunderstanding as to which Blu-ray I am talking about.

Teenage sons showing interest in classic 80s horror so we purchased movies from when I was a teen and had a good time watching them together. Freddy Kruger will always be an iconic horror figure.

I hadn't seen this since probably when I saw it in the theatres 35 years ago. Of course Freddie is not an icon so, it's great to go back to where it all began and surprisingly it holds up remarkably well unlike just about all of the sequels, maybe #3 excepted. Just the right amounts of scary and funny, the plot is ludicrous but, you can spot it's influence (as well as it's stealing from movies like Carrie) in everything since. The transfer to Blu Ray is fantastic. Colors really pop in this 80s flick (like that decade is known for) with a pretty good lack of grain and artifacts. In full disclosure I have a Sony 4K player upscaling the picture to a Sony A8 OLED so, that is definitely part of the equation here. If your family and friends are into horror, this is actually an even better movie as you will all laugh and jump at the same points. Truly a great popcorn flick with the group. And I think I paid like 7 bucks so, it's pretty much a steal especially if you've got a nice home theatre set up.
