This phone is a good and I like the feature of being able to connect the phone to the car radio. I have good coverage in areas that I did not have with my old phone. The keypad is not for larger fingers as it's easy to press the wrong letter when texting.- Age : 45-54

The kids prefer this phone to the more expensive one that came with their contract that I insured. When they break their expensive slider phones, this is a great replacement phone!- Age : 45-54

Good for low buck need a phone that works.4

Does really well for such a low buck product. Has better reception than my old Samsung. Not real fancy but gets the job done. The only irritating thing about this phone is its ability to dial 911 when in my pocket. More than once or twice.- Age : 55-64

We just got this phone for my 13 year old on 4/30/13 as a step up from his previous Gophone. My son loves it - it looks great, is easy to use, and the size is perfect. However, in the 10 days he has had it, it has dialed 911 four times when the screen was locked and the phone was not in use. The phone has a design flaw that allows it to dial 911 with the screen locked if the call button is pressed and it is very easy for the call button to be pressed. If the button gets touched when the phone is a pocket or backpack, it dials 911 and the user isn't aware it has happened. One of the 911 calls happened while he was sleeping and the phone was on its charger because a book fell off his bed and landed on the phone.
We discovered it was doing this because he told me he kept getting missed calls from a number he didn't recognize. When I googled the number, it was a number the 911 operator uses to call a phone number back if they receive a 911 call from it and no-one says anything or if the call is dropped. The 911 calls did not show up in his call history. I checked online and found a significant number of similar complaints about this phone and model.
I've just got off the phone with AT & T, who told me they know about this problem and are working with Alcatel to find a solution but do not have a fix for it yet. The only things they could recommend was that we replace it with another make and model or find some kind of case (the example given was something like a hard pencil case) to put it in so there is no possibiility the button can get accidentally pressed. That doedn't seem very practical. I also had to talk with the police about the repeated 911 calls. I have to say AT & T were very helpful but they need to take this phone off the market until they have a solution.
Since we did not keep the plastic packaging the phone came in, it looks like we can't get a replacement for it so are going to have to write it off as a bad buy and invest in a new phone that doesn't have this problem.1 out of 1 found this review helpful.
