Its basically like a VCR, except it's all on a 2.5" harddrive, which you can take out easily and slave into your desktop to back the files up and rename them. The files play easily on a desktop with VLC Player.
This PVR fried the 1st hard drive I put in it after only a week, but I think its all the fault of WD. Sent that drive back, got another, and it has been working well since for about a month as of now. The picture quality of this is advertised at 1080i, but at the highest quality setting, it looks closer to 780p to me. At the lowest setting (which is not that much different from the highest) its about 780i. The i/o's are only RCA composite and component, with no HDMI (which would be great). Learning how to use it takes a while.0 out of 0 found this review helpful.

This is definitely a great PVR with little hassle! It is also good for recording gameplay footage and first time Let's players or video game reviewer like my self! The only problem I had was that the PVR was a bit picky with my flash drive so I had to buy a external hard drive but after that is was smooth sail'n!1 out of 1 found this review helpful.
