Posted by: techwannabe from TX on 05/21/2013Purchased this mainly to surf the net, read emails, shop. It fits those needs fine, but the battery life is awful. I rarely take it anywhere without the plug. I'm not sure that a 10" tablet would not have filled my needs better; they are more portable and some of the cases accessories have built in keyboards making the experience about the same. However, price wise for a name-brand tablet you'll pay more. Chrome's ability to sync with your other gadgets is a plus. I guess if you create docs and such and need to be able to access them in the cloud, then you will probably be happy with this. It's a better deal overall than buying a netbook. This has a better keyboard layout and larger screen without weighing much more. On a plus note, I have hooked this up to my hdtv and enjoyed netflix and browsing without using a game system. I'll recommend, but acer needs to upgrade it's battery. Also, the speakers are very tinny sounding. I don't quite understand why companies put speakers on the bottom of the unit which sits on your lap. FYI, using the mousepad takes some getting used to; there are no dedicated left right click. You right click by gently tapping two fingers at the same time. It was frustrating at first, but I've gotten used to it.

Everything I was looking for

Posted by: MrsCole from Savannah, Ga on 05/20/2013After my laptop gave up, I needed something to replace it. This chromebook is light weight, not huge, and does all the things I need it to do. I use it to watch movies, web surfing, shopping, facebook. I love it! Wish I would have got one sooner.

Perfect Beginner Laptop
4
Posted by: DeanJ from Indiana on 05/18/2013Got this laptop as a starter computer for my 8 yr old son. It's a lot less expensive than an iPad and can teach him valuable computer skills. It can play most of the online games he likes to and there are many Chrome App games and learning apps.
Be aware that this is not a typical laptop. This is basically a laptop that can only run a Chrome internet browser. So, without internet connection it becomes useless. Also, the browser has it's own built-in flash player that does not allow plug-ins. It cannot play complex browser based games like Minecraft.
Overall, I am impressed with how well-built and intuitive this little laptop is. With online access, Chrome Apps, and Netflix, this is a perfect started computer for children.
