Posted by: from Lafayette, IN on 04/05/2013Before hooking this device up used only one remote. Now have to turn surround on with its rmote, turn tv off and on with its remote and change channels with Direct Tv remote. If I turn tv off with Directtv remote, when I turn it on next time the picture is frozen. I have to unplug both wireless units then plug them back in, Then the tv will work. Way too much trouble for paying over $200!!!!!!

Posted by: from Lincoln Nebraska on 04/01/2013I'm a quadriplegic and must use a computer & head mouse to work my computer with which I communicate. I like the Actiontec a lot! My caregivers love it to, because now they only have to look up at the big TV to see what I type when I'm on the ventilator at night at which time can not speak. With out this system, caregivers would have to crane their necks to look at my computer screen to read what I typed. However, the receiver has quit twice in the last week. It had to be unplugged and plugged back in to reset it. I had to use trial-&-error to figure that out which took nearly an hour each time. I wasn't sure what was repeatedly causing the disconnect alarm to sound, followed by the connect sound. I disconnected and reconnected each USB device. All that was left was the Actiontec transmitter. I disconnected and reconnected it, but it kept doing the same thing. I reasoned that it needed time to reset, so I disconnected and unplugged it and left it unplugged for a few hours while I watched TV. I finally hooked it up again and selected PC and I saw a message saying "no device available". The next day, I got our activities director to help me with the receiver (that's all that was left to check). She messed with it and finally disconnected & reconnected it and the computer screen showed up. I enjoyed it for 2 days and system quit again. I had to wait until Monday to get the activities director back in (I didn't remember what all she did). I disconnected and unplugged transmitter and waited until she came in. She selected PC and then disconnected & reconnected receiver. When I reconnected transmitter, PC screen showed on TV. I wish I knew what caused this. The system is all I needed for what I wanted to do. Thank the Adviser you sent! Good Advice!

Posted by: from Los Angeles on 03/23/2013The cost was an issue at first but my T.V. is located in an area that is not easily accessible to fish a cable to it. The HDMI cables would have driven the cost to nearly as much and not wanting to crawl under a house made the decision easy (not all of us have basements here in L.A.). The other advantage to having this is the fact that I can take it to any part of the house or even outside, if needed. The locking up issue can easily be fixed by unplugging and plugging in the unit back in, again. It has not locked up recently, however.

Couldn't use it due to no coax input

Posted by: from MI on 03/15/2013Couldn't use this product and had to take it back. Only had HDMI inputs, which would install it after the satellite box. Would not have control of the input via the satellite box and remote.

Posted by: from on 03/10/2013Connected to tv upstairs and dvr with TWC service downstairs. Functions well. You have to use the dvr remote to change channels or watch recorded shows. Good thing I have a remote upstairs as well..

slick idea but needs better range

Posted by: from Newport Beach, CA on 03/03/2013This device was very easy to install if you have the instructions. I purchased one that was an opened box and the instructions were missing. After my first attempt to get it working failed, I went online and found the instructions from the manufacturer's website and it worked fine. Its a slick device that will allow you to located a TV any where you have power and it will replicate whatever your other TV signal/picture is, and in high definition. It was perfect for adding a TV to my outdoor area for a superbowl party. The one problem I had was the limited range. You cant locate it very far from the source TV signal.

Posted by: from Arlington on 03/03/2013I was skeptical that this would work, and had my receipt ready to return the product. To my amazement, I had it up and running in about 40 minutes. It works well, and beats Comcast's offer to run wire from one corner of my condo around all the baseboards to the opposite end in my bedroom. If you have no technical savvy, you might consider having somebody set it up for you. Bottom line: If the product were priced right, i.e. 1/3 the price, it would seem like a good value. Living in a condo, I can't run wire in the walls easily so this was a good solution.
