Pricey! But worth it! I guess?

Posted by: from Wilmington, DE on 05/10/2013Well after buying the cheap knockoffs of fleabay and almost losing my iphone 5 to the cable almost burning up, glad i smelt the faint smell before it actually did burn up. This lead me to buying an OEM cable. Glad I did. Now if it burns up atleast i can go after somebody. Primarily use this in the car, as the one i got with the phone stays home.

Get OEM

Posted by: from Bay Area, CA on 04/22/2013Tried a few off brand charging cables from a competitor, and ended up with some duds or poorly constructed charging cables. Went OEM, and everything works as it should. Only real drawback is the price, as it is expensive. You do you get what you pay for.

Too pricy

Posted by: from Fishers, IN on 04/13/2013Love the fact that these truly are "Lightning" cables as they charge my phone and iPad a ton faster than the old 30-pin adapter cables that Apple used. That said, it kills me that they are so expensive. In the 30-pin ecosystem, I had about a dozen cables that I left everywhere so that I could charge whenever I needed to. In the Lightning cable ecosystem, I only have a few cables because they are so expensive. What a bummer.

Wish Apple had included this cable!
5
Posted by: from Southern California on 03/07/2013Wish Apple would have included this cable with my iPhone 5. Aside from that, it's a great cable to keep in your bag, backpack, etc. If you're like many you still have the legacy 30 pin cables, chargers, etc. This cable leverages your past investment (if you have the 30 pin car charger, you can use this with it as well...#. The only thing you need to watch out for is if your device has a case. My iPhone 5 has a thin #1mm) ZAGG case. The opening around the port was large enough to allow the use of the included USB cable and thought it would be wide enough for this charger - it wasn't; it's slightly a bit wider for some reason. I did make it work, however, by shaving some of the ZAGG case with a sharp blade. I made it wide enough for the plug and other connectors to work. So keep that in mind if you have a case on your device.

It's a cord.

Posted by: from Grapevine, TX on 03/04/2013Why on earth doesn't Best Buy show how LONG this cord is? I mean, really? What other specifications could there be? I haven't bought one yet so I'm still using the one that came with my iPhone 5 and it's nice that the plug fits into the iPhone in either of the two possible orientations. Much nicer than the old 30 pin adapter that only fit one way. That said, what is wrong with us lemmings willing to fork over 20 clams for a simple cable? For $17 I can buy a 16Gb USB 2.0 Memory stick shaped like Peter from Family Guy. With around 128 billion transistors and the Peter's cool pudgy outline, I'm guessing a little more work went into getting the silicon out of the fab clean rooms, assembled, tested, and shipped to us (including royalties paid to the good people at Fox). And yet, a simple cord for an Apple product costs MORE!!! And we still don't know how long the thing is!! That would be too much info.. just buy the thing and be happy!! Rant over.

Glad I purchased the genuine apple product
5
Posted by: from New Jersey on 02/28/2013I recently got the iPhone 5, and since the charger is different I knew I'd need to purchase extra chargers for the car, my room, my office, etc., just to have extra ones around. To save money, I thought about buying a "knock-off" non-brand charger, but opted to go for this one instead. After using my $15 reward dollars, it only cost me $5! I am so happy I decided to go with the real apple product, because I have been hearing bad things about trying to charge the iPhone 5 with a cheaper knock-off version. Even if I didn't have my reward dollars, I still would have bought the genuine apple charger, but I do recommend using your reward zone dollars to purchase this or something similar! So glad I bought it.

Don't expect this cord to last!
2
Posted by: from on 12/18/2012I bought the new iPad Mini on the release date and the charging cord works like all the other apple cords. They provide a quick charge but then all the cords connection will get weak within a few months. (I've had this cord for 4 months. I take very good care of my cords). As I'm typing this review, my fingers are supporting the connector so my iPad can charge. As soon as I let go, my iPad will no longer be charging. (I only charge to an wall outlet.). I also get the message that "this accessory is not supported by this device"---This cord came with the device! I have had these same issues with my iPhone & my iPod. The cords eventually broke open with gentle use of charging once daily. So, I have switched my other apple devices to Belkin cords and I haven't had any problems. So today, I will be going to Best Buy to purchase a lightening cable cord from another brand than apple. I love apple products but their charging cords are not made well.
