My first Macintosh Laptop/Computer and I LOVE IT!

Posted by: from Winston-Salem, NC on 08/19/2012I purchased this MacBook Air in July 2012. I purchased an open box item that was restored to factory settings via Geek Squad. I have to say that I am absolutely in LOVE with Apple Products and this particular product just topped off my love for Apple period! I do have to say, never again will I EVER buy another Windows Based Computer. This MacBook Air is super fast, does everything I need it to do and then some. I heard that the quality of Apple is extremely good, and now I can vouch for that. I havent had a problem one out of this product. I would have to say the ONLY thing I dont particularly care for is the screen size of this laptop, but, they make bigger ones and if I had the money I would definitely buy one today. My girlfriend says this is my new baby, and it indeed is! The picture, sound, speed, and such is fantastic. You def. get what you pay for. :)

Great price for a great product

Posted by: from CT on 07/20/2012I love this computer, and at the price i paid (759+tax), i got a great deal. i have been using apple computers where i teach and at home for over 10 years and no other computers are as reliable as these. for example, we have smart boards at my school that have pc's attached to them. we got a brand new batch of PC desktops for the smart boards and a few came in with issues right out of the box, about 20% of the shipment. anyone who bashes apple is doing so because they can get pricey, but it's not because of their performance or durability. i am sure that some of the high-end PC's are good, but if you are going to spend good money, why not just get an apple?

Why Didn't I Buy a Mac Years Ago?
5
Posted by: from Mexico, IN on 07/04/2012For 15 years I kept promising myself that my next computer would be a Mac. But, when it came time to replace a PC (which happened MANY times), I always cheaped out and bought another PC. When I did finally buy my first Mac, my last PC was still functioning. So, I opted for the cheapest (thus slowest) MacBook available, since I could continue to use my PC for "serious" work. The MacBook Air (1.6 GHz Intel Core i5, 2 GB 1333 DDR3, and 64 GB flash drive) blows my PC (dual-core processor, 4 GB RAM, 500 GB hard drive) away! Plus, the MacBook Air is MUCH lighter, feels MUCH more durable, and has about triple the battery life! I have powered up my PC in order to transfer files from it to my Mac...and for no other reason. The cheapest (and slowest) Mac immediately and totally replaced my PC. My next computer will probably be a more upscale Mac. I doubt that I will EVER buy another PC.

Very good for my needs.

Posted by: from Pennsylvania on 06/22/2012I like my new computer. It's very good for my needs, but there are too many changes from the older computers. It's time to let some things stay as they were if they accomplish the same end.

Apple Gets Me

Posted by: from USA on 06/08/2012I already have a 2008 aluminum MacBook but I'm going to law school in August and I wanted an ultra-light laptop JUST for school. Since Apple products already run my life (MacBook, iPad, iPhone) I figured the 11" Air would fit my needs. After researching cheaper PCs and their "equivalents" to the Air (Ultrabook, Samsung 9 series or whatever it's called), I found that the cheap ones all had bad reviews and the Air "equivalents" were just as expensive if not more so (and also just inferior imitations of the Air). I'm not a fan of Windows anyway so I went ahead and spent the money to guarantee a computer that is ready to go right out of the box and will still be just as efficient several years from now. I've never had luck with PC. Ever since switching to Mac my computer life has been exponentially easier. If you want a laptop that is the essence of portable, get over your fears of OSX. Trust me--it's as easy as breathing. I also love the backlit keys (my old macbook doesn't have that feature). It's the perfect size for stuffing it in a backpack, taking notes on small desks, and doing internet research. If you want to use it as an all around computer and weigh it down with music, photos, videos, computer games, and stuff like that, though, I would recommend a model with more memory. Sorry this is a bit of a soliloquy--I just LOVE this laptop (and Mac in general.) Also ordering from bestbuy.com and picking the item up in the store was a great experience. Totally hassle-free (except for having to drive an hour and a half because the store close to where I live doesn't have an extensive mac inventory).

Posted by: from Irvine,CA on 05/30/2012Needed a travel laptop with ports to recharge phones. Saved a lot of money from having to use the business center in the hotel. I recommend getting a light backback and you will not even notice the weight.

What is not to love

Posted by: from Baltimore, Md on 04/30/2012I was in the market for a computer that was highly portable. I am a college student, professional, and a mom who is always on the go due to track and field, arena football, lacrosse with the kids, and for when I leave work and go straight to class. This computer is truly remarkable. It’s light weight, powerful, and performs well. The best part for me was the easy transfer of data from my Macbook (which is now my 13 year old daughter’s computer for her upcoming 9th grade school year) to the Air. It took roughly 9 hours, but ALL my information from the Macbook was on the Air once the process was complete including my Microsoft software. Love it… The MBA compliments my iPhone and iPad 2. The only downside is battery life.

Posted by: from california on 04/20/2012Doesn't come with OS X Lion, so can't use Xcode (why else would you buy this computer?). Doesn't come with any basic software that a computer should have. 2GB memory, are you kidding? Slow as ever especially considering it has Intel Core i5. It makes you use safari and iTunes (two cumbersome products that everyone has stopped using years ago). The learning curve for using a Mac is very long if you have used a PC all your life, take a long time to figure out where to find things and how to scroll and do basic mouse functions. Yeah, It looks good but who cares? It's gotta run good too. You are much better off with a Dell where you can get 2-3X the memory and software for 1/4 the price.
