Posted by: gbol from Lake in the Hills, IL on 05/17/2013I had the 2TB model and upgraded to the 3TB. Everything went well until it was time for it to connect to the internet. Long story short it would not connect, and I had to call Comcast for help after about an hour of no luck connecting. They are not Apple people, so I was on my own again. It finally did connect, but I am still not sure what I did to get it to work. It has worked fine since, so other than the initial connection difficulty, I am very happy with the unit.

Rock solid but pricey

Posted by: Gorathe from Austin, TX on 10/30/2012Very solid unit, easy to setup (took me a couple of minutes, and my network setup is weird). Been chugging away doing its thing for a while now without a hiccup. However, you do pay for such quality. However, do you want to compromise on your primary backup solution?

Apple Zombie but will never buy this again
2
Posted by: 305fraggle from Miami, FL on 09/30/2012Purchased this as our main router as well as main backup for our 3 apple machines. $500. Set up was fairly easy (this must be primary unit if you are using more than one airport/airport express with it). Backups were scheduled, everything was working great - utilized as hub for backups for photos and music libraries - big mistake. After less than a year, its started clicking, them blam - no more hard drive. After completely freaking out, i was able to ascertain that you can never recover the data from the device - not at all - you can try to break it open and try using hard drive again via a docking port BUT adding more expense at this point was insane - i lost a LOT of music files (not all replaceable), all those backups (which were replaceable) and photos (luckily for photos i dont keep just one backup - DVDs in the family safe are my perm backup for photos). I love apple and swear by their hardware - but I will never buy this again - should have read reviews before buying.

TOTAL JUNK

Posted by: MACJUNK from CA on 09/09/2012I have always been an Apple/Mac fan but one day after 365 days my Time Capsule - 3TB CRASHED. I am now after spending $500 for this Time Capsule hoping I can recover my very important documents. Sad it didn't have even 1/3 its capacity on it and was rarely used!!!!
For this price this is NOT COOL.....!

Good backup, choppy streaming
4
Posted by: 503PDXboy from Portland, OR on 08/31/2011The time capsule works great in conjunction with the Time Machine backup program in the Mac OS. The network speed can lag when multiple devices connect to the internet. If one or more devices is streaming video, the playback is choppy and video quality is low.
