Posted by: LVron from Las Vegas, NV on 06/19/2013This wireless router replaced a Cisco/Linksys router which worked well but after some internet upgrades by Cox, wireless performance took a hit plus old router was not dual band. This new ASUS router improved performance and maintains high speeds throughout the day. Directional antennas also improved distance performance and connectivity. USB port is a plus. Setup was easy if you have some experience. Biggest con is the mounting bracket does not fit the router out of the box. I had to do some plastic trimming to get the bracket to fit. Also, it is a bit pricey.

Posted by: Jerry1701 from Doyelstown, OH on 06/19/2013The number of wireless devices has grown over the last year and our old router could not handle them all. This has been a great fix. It was easy to set up with good directions.

Great Wireless Router
5
Posted by: DayOHHeadHunter from Dayton OH on 06/17/2013Easy to install, powerful signal. May need to add a range extender (Asus makes this also - compatible to the router) to reach other parts of my home. Not the fault of the router but rather the way my home is constructed.

Great Range! No problems so far...

Posted by: JoDeanne from Wisconsin on 06/15/2013We've had this wireless router for about a month or so. It has sufficient range for us whether we're in the basement or 2nd floor so we're really happy with it. It connects faster and stays connected a lot better than our previous router - so far/ so good!

Asus - Dual-Band Wireless-AC works well
5
Posted by: KnowNoMercy from Fridley, MN on 06/15/2013I purchased the Asus - Dual-Band Wireless-AC Gigabit Router at the same time I purchased the newer Motorola SURFboard - Docsis 3.0. This wireless router replaced a Lynksys G.
It has been running without any problems for over a month now. It is hard to separate the increased speed or the new wireless from the increased speed of the new modem. But all wireless devices seem to be running more quickly - such as the modern phones and iPads that use wireless N. Newer devices in the near future should be able to take full advantage of the speed of the AC standard.
Our house is medium sized - 2700 sq ft rambler. Xbox and PC3 are off in the far bedroom and in the basement. Wireless signal has a good reliable range for all devices throughout the house. Additionally, wireless reaches the back, front, and side yard for streaming convenience.
We can also stream wirelessly with multiple devices without issue. A typical evening would be Xbox with Xbox-live, Netflix on the Panasonic blue ray player and youtube videos streaming or Minecraft on an ipad - all at the same time.
Set up was very easy. It is a relief to have a secured connection again after my Lynksys security stop working. Additional guest accounts were very easy to set up too.
I'm really enjoying my first Asus product.

Great Product

Posted by: zero2005 from Pemberton, NJ on 06/14/2013So i got this thing to replace my netgear junk. was eyeing it up for a few months. found out my local BB had one, couldn't help myself. paid a little extra to get it locally, but no shipping so it makes up for it, and i have the option to bring it back and toss it at their face if i ever get fed up.
but this thing is great! first off, i'm never getting a router WITHOUT external antennas EVER again. internal antenna's BLOW. this thing is lightning fast, on both the 2.4 and 5.0 bands. running stock firmware is cake, but there's aftermarket support as well.
now, i DO get a few drop outs every now and again. not really sure WHAT causes it, seems like every router since my old linksys WRT54G does it now. but this thing, if it drops out, its for 60 seconds or less, and its back up again! no power cycling, no rebooting. just give it a minute and it fixes itself. this is mainly for the 2.4 band, the 5.0 has been rock solid for me.
i totally recommend just stepping up and paying the cash for this thing, it rocks. I have comcast business class internet in my home to support all my gadgets, and this thing TOTALLY keeps up and allows me FULL throughput. i'm averaging 1-2 TB download (yes, TERAbytes) each month, and thats kinda low for me right now. upload rate for me is just under 1 TB.
range is fairly decent. i havent really pushed it to the limit, bit of interference here (about 26-30 total networks on the 2.4 band visible in the local area)
