Posted by: RLSinCO from Superior, CO on 02/14/2013Set up was a breeze, although note you will need to charge the glasses before first time use (via supplied USB cable). Three cables are provided, but you will only need to worry about either the DVI or the HDMI cable...the difference? You need the HDMI to support 3D playback of blu ray movies if you have a 3D player in your PC, if not; use the DVI.
Came with an install CD that initially pointed me to an older version of Nvidia drivers but I just downloaded them directly from Nvidia website (310.90). Monitor looks very good in 2D, and while others have stated that it is bright, I replaced a Hanns G 28" monitor that was also very bright so not much of a difference for me.
The monitor is capable of swiveling more than 180 degrees side to side, and has great tilt and height adjustment as well so as the primary user of the monitor, you are going to have a very good view.
On to 3D: this also went without a hitch, but I did initially notice a lot of jaggies in 3D mode so at least for me, I used Nvidia Inspector (1.9.6.9) to create profiles for my games which eliminated those. Now, there are a couple of minor drawbacks: one is when switching to 3D, the image changes and produces a "graininess" of the image (like it is pixelated with very tiny squares). It's not a big degradation, but to me it was noticeable over the same image in 2D mode.
The second issue is that the glasses have a brownish tint to them, and for people like me who use custom ENB palettes for games such as FSX, etc this changes the overall color of the image.
You can have 3D effects begin automatically with your games, or you can choose to manually enact using a hotkey combo of your choice...you can also change the 3D "depth" effect by using hot keys, and that is kind of fun but the more 3D depth I enabled, the more ghosting I got...
I did not see any flickering, and I am fairly sensitive to that so the 120 Hz refresh rate of the monitor works not only well for 3D, but also makes a big difference in 2D gaming as well.
I give it 4 out of 5 stars simply because of the 3D graininess and lens color, which again both are completely tolerable and I know I will get used to in the long run. In fact, for color intensive games such as Black Ops 2 you hardly notice it. Both effects are more pronounced in games such as Microsoft FSX for example.
Overall, if you want 3D gaming I would recommend this monitor!

Posted by: JTL2 from Los Angeles on 09/06/2012This is the first monitor I've purchased that's default setting was to bright. Normally, the first thing I do with a monitor is turn up the brightness, this one I had to turn down. The picture quality is amazing, as should be expected for the price.
For full disclosure, I purchased this monitor for the integrated nVidia 3D. I don't have a 3D system yet, but plan on purchasing one soon. So I can't comment on the 3D quality. I will update my review should there be an issue with the 3D.
