Posted by: JulesRules from Dallas, TX on 05/10/2013I love my regular nook, but the one thing that always bothered me was having to attach a light of some sort to it. Well this solves the one problem I had left. Great device.

Great E-Book reader

Posted by: DaisyBev from MI on 05/10/2013I love my new Nook with Glow Light. I had the Nook Simple Touch without the glow light, and would have to find a chair to curl up in at night that had a light by it. Now, I can sit in my favorite "reading chair" anytime and read.

Posted by: vlesmeries from Blaine on 05/09/2013I've been using e-ink based readers since the Kindle 1. I've always been concerned about LCD's ruining my eyes and thanks to this device (once rooted), I can do my web surfing on an eye friendly e-ink screen since this is running Android in the background. I can't recommend this enough and now my wife doesn't have to hassle me when I would like to get some reading done in bed.
My only wish is a larger and higher resolution color e-ink screen but I m sure that will be coming 5 years from now.
The ability to add a microSD card also adds to the great beyond Kindle feature list.

Posted by: Kenga from China on 04/24/2013I really loved my Nook Glowlight. I used it every single day for at least an hour, usually much more, with no problems. Then, one morning, I reached over to pick up my Nook - and the screen was half-filled with lines. I tried resetting it, turning it off and on again, letting the battery drain and recharging it. Nothing worked. So, now, I am without an e-reader, as no one can fix my Nook. From research online, this seems to be a very common problem, and i was lucky that mine lasted as long as it did. Buyer be aware.

Nook, Heal thyself

Posted by: Danni76 from Wadsworth on 04/21/2013I shopped long and hard before I unloaded any money for this. Yes, I read all the reviews where folks talked about the tear in the light layer, and yes I read about the font contrast issues, and I went ahead and bought one. I really liked the sound of the ergonomics, and I tend to do a lot of reading in bed, at night. I needed something light, with a light, and also comfortable to hold. I am so happy I chose this. I love it, and there's not a single day I have not used it. I do not really like the organization hierarchy a lot, it seems a lot of bother to try and organize you library, and sync with Adobe Digital Editions, and I would like to add, i don't like the power button where it is, the way I hold books in bed, I have accidentally turned it off so many times, so move it, or put in a switch guard? But the pleasure I get from it makes those minor complaints, a grudging sacrifice, because I absolutely love my Nook! I don't know how I lived without it. I also wanted to say, something kind of strange happened? My Nook, too, developed the light screen tear, that some others have talked about. Mine developed up in the center of the screen, about a half inch from the border down. That happened about three weeks after I bought it, and I had been handling it with kid gloves, as I was aware of the problem, and trying very hard to be careful. So, it finally happened, sigh, it was about 1cm long, and about 1/4cm wide. Looking at all the hassle of trying to return it, (I would have to make a drive), I decided to live with it. I made my bed right? I was well aware of this issue when I bought it. And it was really not in a highly noticeable spot, nor was it much of a nuisance with low light levels, or reading with the light off. So, a few days later, I begin to notice the tear was a little smaller, a few days later smaller and less noticeable, and then today, I sit down to read my Nook, and there is only a hairline squiggle, where the tear once was. No light leaks through, and it is nearly closed up. My Nook has healed itself! I don't know how to explain it, but I am a VERY happy camper! ^_^

Very Nice Reader

Posted by: Rembrandt from USA on 03/21/2013I have had eReaders from the start and was delighted to upgrade to this model. I have used both Kindle and Nook and both are excellent, despite what any reviewer may say. Before deciding which to buy, go to the Nook book store at Barnes and Noble and then go to the Amazon Kindle store. Compare books and prices and make your own call. As for this reader, I frankly am very happy with it. The ink looks just a bit light with some books, but not enough to be distracting or annoying to me. The battery life is amazing and this model has a fast enough processor to navigate large-file books with speed and ease. If you are a reader or want to read more, this device is for you. The Nook HD is for you if you want to read, watch movies, check your email, view photographs, etc. If you want to read books, I recommend this model.

Great Ergonomics, Unaddressed Screen Defect
1
Posted by: UnhappyNOOKie from Oklahoma City on 12/24/2012After owning several Kindles, I decided to take a spin with a NOOK because I really liked the "Home" button.
I read many reviews about issues with the screen, but honestly thought they were a small minority of owners that were hyper-reacting. Now that I've had my NOOK Simple Touch with Glowlight for a whopping 3 days, I turned it on tonight to read, and lo and behold, a small tear about 1 cm has mysteriously formed under the surface of the display.
This unit has been treated gingerly and hardly used in 72 hours, so it can't be from physical abuse. A quick glance at the screen surface reveals no mistreatment to cause such a glaring defect.
As it stands, I'm returning mine to BestBuy for a refund. I've read too many stories about multiple exchanges and don't see the need for any self-torture. So far, B&N's response has been, "The users must be mistreating the devices. They should buy our special cases."
Wow, what corporate arrogance. I'll pass and head over to the Kindle section. Those Paperwhite displays look just as good if not better.

Great Unit, BUT!

Posted by: Fins2825 from Columbia, SC on 12/22/2012Read the reviews on the Barnes and Noble site before you make a purchase. The back screen could develop a small tear allowing the GlowLight to shine through. I did not purchase the Best Buy extra warranty and the crack Geek Squad claimed I dropped something on the unit so they would do nothing for me. I tried to explain to them about this known issue and they did not care. Not so great customer service, Best Buy! I took the unit to Barnes and Noble and they exchanged the unit on the spot with an apology. Great, Customer Service B&N.
