Outstanding value

Posted by: from on 02/10/2013My old router had three faults: range, Ipad connectivity, and the need for occasional restarts. The Ipad issue was getting worse. It would rarely connect and when it did, I would lose the signal easily. Enter the new Belkin. The 5ghz band has worked wonders. The Ipad connected easily and has full bars around most of the house, occasionally dropping one at the far reaches. All other gadgets connected easily as well and show better range than before. I have not had it long enough to determine the need for restarts. My only gripe is the setup process. I chose to rename the SSID and change the passwords during the setup process. I immediately lost connectivity and couldn't figure out how to reconnect and resume setup. Turns out you need to restart the entire setup process from the beginning, entering the new SSID and password. After that is done, maintenance is a breeze. This router is a good value.

Posted by: from Sioux Falls SD on 01/25/2013We had an apple and it did not interface right, this was a snap. I like the password that came with. I have never networked anything and it was easy to hook up my non network printer. Now both my PC and laptop can print off the same device. My son also does X Box and no data problems. Can easily handle multiple devices.

Provides a secure network for the average user.

Posted by: from Maine on 01/20/2013I'ts been several months into using this product. Have had no manufacturing defects noted or any performance issues attributable to the router. It provides continuous feed while using netflix. It has shown no "quirks". As it has been several months, I have not consulted the owner's manual for this review (where did that information go?). I do not recall it provided any guidance on how one could expect to setup a cell phone, etc. However, with a little tinkering, one can find the wifi app on the cell phone and "figure it out"

Don't buy this router

Posted by: from massachusetts on 01/13/2013i bought this router thinking it would work great. I was wrong, out of the box i noticed that that the build quality was horrible and was a finger print magnet. Yes this is a router and you don't have to look at it often or notice that its made of cheap plastic. It is NOT a cheap router, you would expect a better build quality. The features look awesome on the box! 2.4 Ghz and 5 Ghz, anti virus software, wide range?! great! I was only impressed with the range. I can not connect to the 5 Ghz band on my macbook which is the only electronic that can pick up the 5 Ghz band. The 2.4 Ghz works for about a hour of use. It simply disconnects and is a struggle to connect a minute later. I buy a expensive router and this is what i get from Belkin. I should have bought that Apple airport extreme!

Posted by: from Waipahu,HI on 10/18/2012Overall I had to set up the router the traditional way via the web page. I was hoping the software that came with the router would work. Overall I am happy with my purchase works fine. I did not run into any other issues yet.

Don't Believe The Hype
2
Posted by: from Reno, NV on 09/12/2012Don't believe the hype. I read some pretty positive reviews but this router was pretty new when I bought it. I've gone through THREE of these. One I setup for a neighbor and I've replaced my first one due to the inability to port forward. First of all, the web interface crashes all the time forcing you to pull the blug to reboot it. This means that when it's performing badly you can't remote in to it and do a manual reboot. Secondly, port forwarding becomes non-existent if you change the IP address out of the 192.168.2.1 range. I always change mine to 1.1 and come to find out this is what caused my port forwarding not to work on the first one. Skyping with the neighbor who is on 30MBPS whereas I'm on 15MPBS leaves a lot to be desired--this router on both ends. This should in no way be a problem considering we're both plugged in and not even using the wireless. (Yes, I'm on a GB NIC.# After each setting the router has to do a 15 - 45 second reboot #sometimes more depending on what it is). When setting up the neighbor's router, half the time I changed a setting the web interface would crash and I would keep having to manually unplug it to get it back. I'm not seeing this behavior being specific to any of them so it's overall bad design. I'm taking my 2nd one back and will probably suggest that my neighbor takes theirs back for a better overall experience.

Fast and Easy to install

Posted by: from Phoenix AZ on 08/30/2012I replaced a slower single band wireless router because it would not stream HD movies. It would constantly drop/stop the movie. This dual band works amazingly well. I now stream movies with NO problems at all and can actually watch the entire movie without a restart or unplanned pause. It was very easy to set up, and the set up CD was complete and easy to follow.

Posted by: from Green Bay, WI on 08/20/2012Not sure why other reviews were bad, probably they don't know anything, just a guess. I took this home, hooked it up, changed ssid, wpa password. Works like a dream. Way faster and stronger connection.
