Posted by: upnorthemt4142 from Northern Michigan on 06/02/2013I bought this yesterday after a LONG car ride with boring radio music down state with my niece. I was told by the sales associate that it would work with both my iphone 4s and her ipod touch. I was pleasantly surprised at how well it worked with my phone, especially in the city, where there are fewer weak signals for it to pick up. I never had a problem with static, it stayed plugged in, even with my picking up my phone to use it and change songs. The only bummer is that end that connects to the phone is so wide that the cord will not fit unless I take my case off.
And then we tried her ipod....
I was VERY disappointed, however that it did not work AT ALL with her ipod touch (4th gen), even though it is listed on the box as one of the devices the transmitter was "made for." Ironically enough, my iphone 4S was NOT listed on the box.
I live over an hour away from the nearest Best Buy and I'm not even sure I'll be able to return this. I'm not happy at all about paying $75 for something I can only use half as well as I had planned.
My best advice is be careful, and make sure it will work with your device, because obviously even though it says it will... it may not :(

piece of junk

Posted by: cobra6987 from Albuquerque on 05/20/2013Almost out of the box I started having problems with this. First thing I noticed is that the "smart tuning" to find the best clear channel always came up on a frequency being used by a radio station, it is not strong enough to overpower it.
Second, if the cord is not held in just the right angle, you will have a lot of static, even if only broadcasting 3 feet.
third, the power connection sucks. I used several different DC plugs in my car and I would loose power even when not moving, causing the unit to reset.
Fourth, the power levels coming out are very low I need to turn the volume way up. Thus, when it looses power, the static feed is defining.

good for my daily use

Posted by: pisuelily from on 05/08/2013This product does what it's advertised for. I use it daily while I'm commuting between work and home. It's pretty easy to use and the sound quality is acceptable. The plastic material make it look not very sturdy. I have been using it for a few month without problem. Hope it can last.

It's impossible to find a free station

Posted by: UserReview123 from Industry, CA on 04/15/2013Because of this product, I decided my next car HAS to have a direct USB. The FM transmitter is just outdated and no longer should be in use. If you want something that works ... just install an USB or get a new car. You will never get clear service -- and if you do it will just be for a few minutes.

May work better for some

Posted by: fontofinformation from Boise, Idaho on 09/02/2012This product may work for some, but it didn't work for me. I returned it and bought a Monster 800 and had the same problem, so now I wonder if the issue has more to do with my particular car than anything else. I have a Subaru wagon and the radio antenna is integrated with the rear glass. My specific problems with this product were that it would autotune to frequencies that were not ideal, more often than not I could not get it to tune into the frequency I manually selected, and when it did, I encountered loud, persistant static, and occasionally but briefly, music.

Posted by: rex1biscuit from on 08/28/2012my cd player quit working in my vehicle so I bought this as another option. I really like it. Works great. Minimal static. Was great when we traveled as our satellite radio, we had to wait for the assigned station to go to static, this we could quickly find one.

Posted by: TFolsom from SAV on 07/07/2012An exellent low cost low impact way to add "I" capability to a non digital car audio system. Plug it into cig lighter, tune the radio to the displayed FM freq and listen. How simple is that?

Not worth the static
2
Posted by: 353qedfa from on 06/09/2012I bought this to, obviously, be able to listen to my ipod over my car speakers, and i bought it well over a year ago, maybe two years at this point. the woman helping me said it was the best FM transmitter they carried. if that's the case, then the rest of them must REALLY stink. at its best, the sound is fuzzy. it's considerably quieter than the normal radio. the transmitter is sensetive--if it slides between the seat and the center console, the signal dies and it's horribly loud static. it's a headache and not worth the money.
