My first radar detector.5

This radar detector for the money is great. It has paid for itself in the first 2 weeks. I am in the medical field and have to respond to emergencies in the operating room. It is mostly highway driving and I usually, if conditions permit, tend to go over the speed limit. Thank you Beltronics.
So far I purchased one for my son and one relative purchased one for his wife and one for himself.3 out of 3 found this review helpful.

Very good detector...5

I went back and forth between the Passport 9500ix and the Betronics v10 (which seems to be the same specs as Beltronics 995)
and I could not justify spending the $249 more to go with a gps enabled radar detector. But this one (basically made by Passport) is
compatible with the passport Shifter ZR4 for laser jamming and that was high on my upgrade list in a detector.
So as I plan my upgrade path for this detector I have been using it with the auto scan settings set to scan all bands while I learn my area.. the typical who uses what. So for that reason I left the X band on.
While I was driving along I10 downtown Houston I picked up a signal (Xa) and didn't see any police scanning radar. Well I decided to verify I was driving the speed limit and I approached a hill and there he was …. Shooting radar.
His system was the installed type in his car and not the radar gun.
So I was pleased to see the performance of this detector and will move forward with the laser jamming system soon.
the distance was close to 1 mile (up hill side) from when the radar went off which again I found to be great since he was on the downhill side of the hill
So in my opinion this was a huge bang for the buck.
Just my opinion8 out of 8 found this review helpful.

Good Range, Less False Alerts.4

Had the V6 and took it back because the false alarms drove me nuts. I have the V10 in Autoscan mode with X Band turned off. What a difference. The Range seems to be a lot better. The shape of the rear lens is in a radius, I assume to improve off axis performance. So far, so good. Beltronics is owned by Escort and manufactured in the same Escort factory. Had a Escort 8500 X50 a long time ago and loved it.35 out of 35 found this review helpful.
