All tracks are digitally remastered.Birmingham's Roy Wood is one of rock's more under-appreciated geniuses. His '60s band, The Move, released one of the decade's greatest strings of classic singles. Today, however, the band is most often remembered as the group Jeff Lynne was in before he formed Electric Light Orchestra. In fact, ELO histories often neglect to mention that the group was originally a Lynne/Wood partnership, with Wood writing half of ELO's first album. Wood's '70s group Wizzard is usually noted for the novelty glam hit "See My Baby Jive" and for little else, but this extensive 20-track collection compiles Wizzard singles alongside tracks from Wood's contemporaneous solo records and serves as an excellent introduction to a magnificent talent. ARCHIVE gives newcomers a balanced appreciation of Wood's gifts, steering clear of better-known tracks like "Jive" and "Ball Park Incident" in favor of less-familiar but equally fabulous gems.
