Best BB phone yet

Posted by: from San Jose, CA on 05/10/2012I upgraded to the torch from a curve 3g and although I'm not a fan of slider phones, i love the torch! The qwerty keyboard is slight smaller from the previous BB. I like the touchscreen, which is responsive and flawless. Apps on the blackberry are limited, which isn't a problem since i don't use my phone mainly for the apps.

Better than the 9800

Posted by: from Bridgeport, CT on 04/19/2012I got this as an upgrade from the 9800. Even though they are basically the same the new processor and OS7 really make it more enjoyable and fun to use. I barely get hourglasses and slowdowns like on the 9800.

Posted by: from Tomball, TX on 04/11/2012I am happy with Blackberrys they do what they say they will do. Do not drop the blackberry Torch on a hard floor. First time I dropoped is from about waist level, the screen cracked. My fault but I prefer it hadn't done that.

Good phone with good apps

Posted by: from Chattanooga, tn on 02/19/2012I like the Blackberry 9810. The speed is good and the download time is not too terribly long. It is easy to manage the type of connections and installing a blue tooth earpiece is extremely easy. It is a good all around phone. However, if there is anything hinky about it in the first 2 weeks, TAKE IT BACK, and return it with the buyers remorse clause and get a new one. I had one that the salesman at Best Buy talked me into keeping and the problem came back. The sales team at Best Buy will not talk to you after the 2 week period unless you pay the $10.00 a month insurance. So after 8 to 10 hours on the phone with AT&T, I got a reconditioned phone when I owned the phone for less than a month. Life lesson learned.

Decent, but not preferred

Posted by: from Lexington, KY on 01/18/2012As a former owner of the Blackberry Curve 8310 but a current owner of the IPhone 4, I decided it was time for a change and to return to a blackberry. Because I liked the keyboard and look of the Blackberry Torch 9810 and had read some positive reviews, I decided to give the phone a try. At first glance, the phone is sleek and the interface is controlled with ease and recognizes the touch on the screen as well as the iPhone. The keyboard is excellent and much easier to use than touch screens. However, if you decide that you don't want to use the keyboard, a keyboard can appear on the touch screen if the phone is closed. Although the Blackberry does not offer as many apps as the iPhone, the ones that are offered are incredibly practical and met my needs. I also enjoy the numerous settings for ringtones and options that are on the home page on the phone. The ringtones were customizable for any setting (loud, normal, vibrate, silent, ect), and different soft ringtones could be set for one, while louder (and different) tones for another. This feature is something lacking in the iPhone and is useful. There are, however, many features that were missing that led me to eventually switch back to my iPhone 4. One feature is the alarm. This phone only allowed one alarm to be set at one time, so, if my husband were to wake at one time and I at another, I would have to wake up, reset an alarm, then attempt to fall back asleep. Furthermore, copying and pasting was more difficult. Although you could touch the screen, select copy, and then highlight, it was more difficult to highlight the intended words than just touching where you wanted it (at least, I couldn't get it to work appropriately). Another down side was that I couldn't move and group my apps that were added to the phone. If there is a way to do it, I never found it. I could move the apps that came on the phone, but not the added ones. Ease of use was not the greatest on this phone (although with time, it certainly isn't too difficult). I wouldn't recommend it to someone who is not at least semi tech savy. Other features that were not so good included the camera (which had more mps, but not great quality) and the battery (which had to be charged daily with some use). The final reason that I returned the Blackberry Torch is because when texting, sometimes the screen would not allow me to scroll up to read the previous texts. This glitch was not a major problem because it would usually fix itself after I go to the home screen and then return. I would only recommend this phone if 1) you have never owned an iPhone and do not intend to, 2) you don't mind the deficits listed above, and 3) if you demand having a keyboard. Otherwise, I would suggest that you purchace the iPhone. So, overall, there are better options in phones.
