Synopsis

Shot in IMAX 3D, David Lickley's 40-minute documentary Born to Be Wild observes various orphaned jungle animals and their day-to-day behavioral interactions with the individuals who rescue them and raise them to adulthood. The film unfurls in two separate geographic spheres. Half of it takes place in the rain forests of Borneo, where celebrated primatologist Dr. Birute Galdikas assists baby orangutans; the other half takes place on the arid savannahs of Kenya, where zoologist Dame Daphne Sheldrick works with baby elephant calves. The goal, in each case, is not simply rehabilitation but the ultimate return of these animals to the wild, where (it is hoped) they will function freely and independently. Oscar-winner Morgan Freeman narrates; Drew Fellman produced and authored the script. ~ Nathan Southern, Rovi

Great visuals for a nature blu ray documentary

Great but way to short!

Posted by: from Louisville on 05/03/2013I was so excited and couldn't wait until I received the bluray, we received it on a Thursday and figured we would watch it on a Saturday night with the whole family, well it only last 40 min or so, nobody could believe it was over that quick, don't get me wrong it was great, but for a $20 bluray I expected much more! Everyone was a bit disappointed, seemed like we were just getting into it and BAM the credits start rolling

Posted by: from Blue Ridge, TX on 07/04/2012Unbelievable 3D, too bad it was so short of a movie, interesting subject and great 3D. I bought this after reading another review and I have to say he didn't exaggerate in the least.

Great Use Of Blu-ray 3D
5
Posted by: from Gaithersburg, MD on 05/23/2012This is probably the best 3D blu-ray I own to date. The documentary was filmed with IMAX 3D cameras so you don't have to worry about the black bars at the top or the bottom of your TV screen. I think this is what helps bring the picture to life and out of your TV. The documentary is very interesting, but like I stated it could've been at least another 30 minutes longer. But overall great doc narrarated by Morgan Freeman, and best 3D I've seen on my TV to date!
