Boy Meets World: I Ain't Gonna Spray Lettuce No More
Even though it has taken Alan (William Russ) twenty years to decide to give up the grocery business, wife Amy (Betsy Randle) chastizes him for making a "rush decision" by quitting his job. With this in mind, no one is more surprised than Amy when she chooses to change the course of her life as well--and that, ladies and gentlemen, is how Mr. and Mrs. Matthews decide to purchase a camping-supply store and go in business for themselves. Meanwhile, Eric (Will Friedle) makes a concerted effort to improve his chances of eventually entering college. ~ Hal Erickson, Rovi
Boy Meets World: Hair Today, Goon Tomorrow
Tired of hearing Cory (Ben Savage) fret over his curly hair, Topanga (Danielle Fishel) tries to prove to him that appearances don't matter by cutting her own hair practically to the bone. This turns out to be a big mistake, forcing Topanga to visit a hair salon for a "new look"--whereupon she receives so much attention and adulation that she totally forgets the lesson she was trying to teach Cory! Elsewhere, Eric (Will Friedle) is given a strong incentive to remain at home when he dates a young single mother who can't make ends meet. ~ Hal Erickson, Rovi
Boy Meets World: You Can Go Home Again
As Boy Meets World enters its fourth season, Cory (Ben Savage) and Eric (Will Friedle) are on the last leg of their two-month summer roadtrip, and heading back to Philadelphia. But Eric, whose college plans have been shot down in flames, doesn't want the summer to end, and when the boys make a pit stop in a tiny community called Pottstown, he refuses to leave. And back at home, Cory and Eric's dad Alan (William Russ) has decided that, after 20 years in the grocery business, he needs to change the course of his life. ~ Hal Erickson, Rovi
Boy Meets World: Sixteen Candles and Four-Hundred-Pound Men
Cory (Ben Savage) manages to commit himself to two different events at the same time. Having promised to attend Topanga's sweet-sixteen party, Cory nonetheless agrees to attend a wrestling match in which Frankie's dad Vader (Leon Allen White) squares off against Jake "The Snake" Roberts. Hoping to get himself out of this jam, Cory devises a scheme to be in both places at once--just like Fred did in a 1962 episode of The Flintstones! ~ Hal Erickson, Rovi
Boy Meets World: Dangerous Secret
Cory (Ben Savage) jumps to the wrong conclusion when he notices that a girl named Claire (Ariana Richards) is sleeping over at Shawn's place. When he finds out that Claire is afraid to go home because of her physically abusive father, Cory invites her to stay at his house for awhile. Inevitably, Cory's parents find Claire in their son's room, and it is their turn for conclusion-jumping--at least until they wise up and contact the police. This episode originally ended with a PSA delivered by series star Rider Strong addressing the issue of abused children. ~ Hal Erickson, Rovi
Boy Meets World: Turkey Day
Cory (Ben Savage) and Shawn (Rider Strong) are given a thought-provoking Thanksgiving weekend assignment: to show how class divisions between rich and poor are causing all the problems in Rwanda. Unexpectedly, the boys receive some first-hand experience in this matter when both of their families attend Thanksgiving dinner at the trailer-park home of Shawn's parents. And in another development, Frankie's brother Herman (E.J. DeLaPena) wants to start dating Cory's sister Morgan (Lindsay Ridgeway). ~ Hal Erickson, Rovi
Boy Meets World: Janitor Dad
To keep Virna (Shareen Mitchell) from walking out on him again, Chet (Blake Clark) agrees to look for work. He ends up as janitor at Adams High School, causing great mortification for his son Shawn (Rider Strong)--who begs Mr. Feeny (William Daniels) to fire Chet, little realizing the consequences of his actions. And back at the wilderness store, Alan (William Russ) and Eric (Will Friedle) advertise for employees, whereupon a weird hillbilly named Ezekial (Mickey Jones) answers their call. ~ Hal Erickson, Rovi
Boy Meets World: Shallow Boy
Taking offence when Eric (Will Friedle) brushes her off, a weird transient girl named Corinna (Leisha Hailey) writes a nasty song about him. The song ends up a hit, getting lots of radio airplay--and making Eric famous. When Corinna asks to meet Eric again, he is delighted, little realizing her ulterior motives. Meanwhile, Cory (Ben Savage) and Topanga (Danielle Fishel) have an argument on the topic of child-rearing, with both participants demonstrating how strongly they feel and how little they know! ~ Hal Erickson, Rovi
Boy Meets World: Fishing for Virna
Shareen Mitchell makes her first series appearance as Virna, the "runaway" mother of Cory's friend Shawn (Rider Strong). When Virna reappears after a year's absence, Cory (Ben Savage) tries to reunite her with her son Shawn and husband Chet (Blake Clark)--who really want this reunion, but are reluctant to make the first move out of fear that Virna might run off again. Cory also finds time to pay homage to Brenda (Loretta Jean), the cafeteria lunch lady, who has unexpectedly passed away. ~ Hal Erickson, Rovi
Boy Meets World: Easy Street
Veteran funnymen Buddy Hackett and Soupy Sales guest star as a pair of disreputable-looking businessmen named Fontini and Martin. Hired to run errands for the two men, Cory (Ben Savage) quickly figures out that they're a pair of crooks and quits his job. Alas, Shawn (Rider Strong) is only too willing to pick up where Cory left off--and the results could be VERY hazardous to his health. Meanwhile, Eric (Will Friedle) has a life-threatening experience of his own as he braves 500 miles' worth of blizzard to make sure his mountain-born lady friend Lonnie (Jen Campbell) has a merry Christmas. ~ Hal Erickson, Rovi
Boy Meets World: An Affair to Forget
Shawn's snooty girlfriend Jennifer (Kristanna Loken) agrees to continue dating him on one condition: Shawn (Rider Strong) must stop being friends with Cory (Ben Savage). This requires some quick if not brilliant thinking on the part of Cory and Shawn--and, inevitably, the intervention of the level-headed Topanga (Danielle Fishel) to set things aright. Meanwhile, Eric (Will Friedle) is absolutely certain that people will pay $30 a head for the privilege of seeing his one-man show "Look at Me, Look at Me." (PS: nobody looks). ~ Hal Erickson, Rovi
Boy Meets World: Singled Out
As indicated by its title, this episode was a originally a crossover between Boy Meets World and the MTV dating series Singled Out. In order to get airtime on the show, Eric lies to host Chris Hardwick, claiming that he attends Harvard University. This earns him a date with Columbia University coed Linda (Bridget Flannery)--who isn't all she claims to be either! Meanwhile, Cory (Ben Savage) becomes convinced that he will vanish from the face of the earth if his tonsils are removed. ~ Hal Erickson, Rovi
Boy Meets World: Security Guy
It's a dark day in the Matthews household when Eric (Will Friedle) is fired from the wilderness store owned by his father Alan (William Russ). Though assured that this decision was made to force him to stop holding himself back and to give college another try, the embittered Eric becomes a security guard instead. But a chance meeting with a brainy coworker named Ronny (Kris Iyer) convinces Eric that he's making a mistake--and a nocturnal visit to Mr. Feeny (William Daniels) confirms this. Meanwhile, the time has come for Cory (Ben Savage) and his friends to pick up their Number Two pencils, break open the seals, and take their SATs. ~ Hal Erickson, Rovi
Boy Meets World: Quiz Show
Appearing as contestants on the prestigious but low-rated TV academic quiz show "Knowledge Fever", Cory (Ben Savage), Shawn (Rider Strong) and Topanga (Danielle Fishel) score a hit with their wisecracks and hilarious cultural references. In fact, the producers are so impressed that they invite the trio to make a return appearance. Flattered by all the attention, Cory and his friends are blissfully unaware that the producers plan to "dumb down" all future quiz questions in order to keep the threesome coming back week after week. ~ Hal Erickson, Rovi
Boy Meets World: Uncle Daddy
After the initial shock of discovering that his girlfriend Kelly (Brittany Powell) has a son, Eric (Will Friedle) makes a big show of the fact that it doesn't bother him. Indeed, he is more than willing to play "Uncle Daddy" to the boy, if only to prove that he's mature enough to handle the responsibility. However, his maturity does not extend to informing his parents about Kate's situation. Meanwhile, Cory (Ben Savage) and his friends grit their teeth and prepare themselves for the much-dreaded but inevitable SATs. ~ Hal Erickson, Rovi
Boy Meets World: A Long Walk to Pittsburgh, Part 1
In the first episode of a two-part story, Cory (Ben Savage) suspects that his girlfriend Topanga (Danielle Fishel) and his best pal Shawn (Rider Strong) are attracted to one another--especially after Eric (Will Friedle) catches them kissing. Even more daunting is the news that Topanga (Danielle Fishel) is leaving Philadelphia and moving far, far away...to Pittsburgh. The whole situation begins to shape up like something out of "Romeo and Juliet"--and wait until we get to Part Two! ~ Hal Erickson, Rovi
Boy Meets World: Chick Like Me
Inspired by the book Black Like Me, in which a white reporter poses as a black man, Cory decides to write a school newspaper article on sexual harrassment--and in order to research the subject, he intends to disguise himself as a girl! Somehow or other, it is Shawn (Rider Strong) who ends up donning a wig and skirt and going out into the dating world as "Veronica Wasboyski"--and needless to say, he gets more "research" than he bargained for. Elsewhere, Eric (Will Friedle) tries to acclimate mountain-gal Lonnie (Jen Campbell) to the Big City. ~ Hal Erickson, Rovi
Boy Meets World: Wheels
Now that he has his driver's license, Cory (Ben Savage) wants to spend his 16th birthday in Atlantic City with Shawn (Rider Strong) and Topanga (Danielle Fishel). This does not sit well with dad Alan (William Russ), who'd hoped that Cory could celebrate the occasion with his family. The situation degenerates into an argument, and as a result Cory is not only reluctant to call his dad when he is pulled over for speeding, but he stubbornly refuses to do so! ~ Hal Erickson, Rovi
Boy Meets World: B&B's B 'n' B
To prove to Mr. Feeny (William Daniels) that he has good business sense, Cory (Ben Savage) takes advantage of Feeny's absence to transform his teacher's home into a Bed & Breakfast. As for Feeny, he and Eric (Will Friedle) unexpectedly become close friends while vacationing at a hotel; in fact, there's a fascinating role reversal when Eric provides comfort and advice to an unlucky-in-love Feeny! And incidentally, where did Shawn (Rider Strong) learn how to speak Dutch? ~ Hal Erickson, Rovi
Boy Meets World: Learning to Fly
Having decided to go to college after all, Eric (Will Friedle) begins searching for an institute of higher learning that won't unduly tax his intellect--in other words, an "easy school". While visiting Beach State College with Eric, Cory (Ben Savage) meets a pretty co-ed named Mary Beth (Lisa Dean Ryan), who, much to his astonishment, makes a play for him! Bonnie Bartlett, the wife of series costar William Daniels (Mr. Feeny), makes her first appearance as Dean Bolander in this, the final episode of Boy Meets World's fourth season. ~ Hal Erickson, Rovi
Boy Meets World: Cult Fiction
Jonathan (Anthony Tyler Quinn, in his final series appearance) is worried that the new group of friends that Shawn (Rider Strong) is hanging around with are members of a cult. Shawn hotly denies this, but the evidence is overwhelming--especially the manipulative machinations of the group's leader Mr. Mack (Jerry Levine). The situation is not resolved until Jonathan is seriously injured in a motorcyle accident...and Shawn is forced to summon up the inner strength he never knew he had. ~ Hal Erickson, Rovi
Boy Meets World: A Long Walk to Pittsburgh, Part 2
In the conclusion of a two-part story, Cory (Ben Savage) continues to proclaim his undying devotion to Topanga (Danielle Fishel), even though she has moved to faraway Pittsburgh. Evidently Topanga feels the same way, inasmuch as she runs away from her family to be reunited with Cory. Now it falls to the youngster to convinces their uptight parents that this is the "real thing." The episode's blatant references to "Romeo and Juliet" take on special significance when one realizes that the part of Topanga's disapproving Aunt Prudence is played by Olivia Hussey, who played Juliet in Franco Zefferrelli's 1968 film version of Shakespeare's immortal tragedy. ~ Hal Erickson, Rovi
