Posted by: DocGuitar from Evansville, IN on 06/09/2013I purchased this for scanning in single sheets of music, and use both Mac and Windows environments (including Windows 7 on a MacBook Pro running Parallels). Since I play various venues, it's important to have something portable and either self-powered or USB powered. This USB-powered unit is small enough to be portable, yet accepts letter-size sheets easily. It's difficult to get the scans perfectly straight, but the resulting scans are straight enough for my use (maybe not good enough if you need to use OCR, however). Easy to use in both Mac and Windows environments, and the included software includes Twain drivers, so the scanner is compatible with a wide variety of imaging applications.
Great value, fits in with my other gear, and works well.

Posted by: Slimbob from Urbanna on 05/30/2013I am pleased with the Brother - DSmobile 600 Portable Sheetfed Scanner. While it is small and portable, it does the job (scanning) of
larger (not portable) scanners. Would recommend it for laptops and for
those on the go.

Posted by: push from sandstone, mn on 04/12/2013We really like our small scanner. We got it to scan pictures saved after our house fire and needed quick scanning to save. Its small size and portablity made this an excellent resource in saving our memories. Only issue with it is it scans a whole page instead of just the picture size and we had to edit the pictures. There may be a feature to fix this but time was of the essence so we did not get to explore the features before using it.

Posted by: Kim49788 from Kincheloe, MI on 09/12/2012this is supposed to be the 'slow' one of the models I researched. A page scans in less than 30 seconds, so it's fast enough for me. It portable, plug & play with quick set up allows me to scan documents at meetings as I need them. No more carrying home paper to make copies and return to people later.

Posted by: MKinAZ from Arizona on 02/26/2012I like that this is powered only via the USB and is small but it scans really slow and often, the creases in the paper cause it to scan crooked.

Posted by: RegretsPurchase from on 11/15/2011Within the first 50 scans and beyond my window to return, its stopped feeding. First call to Brother was the script "blow it out with air" etc. (worthless). 2nd call they listened to the sounds and sent me a factory refurb. 5 scans into the refurb same symptoms. During my 3rd call with Brother it started feeding again (I presume there is a gear inside that binds or something) that was the end of the call "I cannot help you if its working now", so we agreed I would call back the next time it broke. Looks like I have suceeded in just adding weight to my carry on, if I want to chance being able to scan on the road.

Don't waste your time or money

Posted by: PalmdaleEngineer from California on 10/12/2011It never worked right out of the box. The first receipt - slid all over the place making the scan a blur. I tried several other receipts - same thing. I even tried enclosing receipts in the plastic cover supplied with the product for scanning photos - same thing. It doesn't feed into the rollers, gets stuck, slides from side to side - all making the scan blurry, unfinished and just plain unusable. Oh, after 4 or 5 times - I finally got a readable scan ... but who has time to waste trying to make their product work.
