Worked great ONE TIME

Posted by: BleuGuy from Las Vegas, NV on 04/30/2013I bought this product to help scan bills and other paper clutter at home so I could shred them and clean out my drawers.
Day 1: Installed and worked as expected. Kind of tedious having to feed each sheet to it individually, but I didn't buy this one thinking it could feed itself.
Finished my first stack and unplugged everything properly. I put it away in a drawer in the bubble wrap packaging it comes in + the leather case.
Day 2: Got it out. Plugged it back in. Booted everything up. First document fed about an inch and half before the program said the scan was aborted because the scanner wasn't connected or not turned on properly. All signs in my device directory of the computer said that was incorrect. I closed the program. Reloaded. Tried again. Second document, it scanned pitch black... because it wasn't gripping the paper to feed at all. Attempted calibration and cleaning returned the original message about device not connected properly.
Attempted to uninstall and reinstall all drivers and software. Same problems again.
In the course of a week, sitting in a drawer, doing nothing, this scanner has gone from working as expected to not working at all. I don't have kids so I guarantee nobody tampered with it in between. Thoroughly frustrated with this device. Did they expect me to leave it plugged in and never turn off my pc after the initial set up? Its a MOBILE scanner. Should NOT be having this problem on the 2nd usage. Feels like software errors due to the inconsistency in performance and error messages.

just a scanner

Posted by: dsfj from Concord, NC on 01/20/2013We bought this for tracking and catagorizing receipts. It is just a scanner, returned for a Neat Receipt scanner. There was no program for doing what we wanted it to do. Our printer does just as good of a job and is wireless. If you just want a portable scanner this may work for you. We bought it on sale, but the regular price is the same as the Neat Receipt. For my money, just buy the Neat Receipt.
