I have been through thousands of copies before I had to replace the cartridge (I use the high capacity cartridges) and finally replaced it because the printer had been saying it was low for the past month, although it was still printing fine. The cartridge was simple to replace, took about a minute, and it continuing to give me great copies!

Good basic laser printer

There are a few negative comments about cartridge life. The cartridge that came with mine started complaining after a couple of weeks that it needed to be replaced.
A little research on the Internet revealed that this wasn't (necessarily) true,and that the ink sensor in this machine can give false readings.
Search the internet for steps on resetting the toner sensor in the machine (very easy) and you can keep using it for a lot longer.

Easy to install, and I have always used Laser printers instead of "Jet" style. The print quality is very good for what I believe to be an inexpensive printer. My old IBM and Xerox Laser printers were much more expensive and replacement cartridges were also more; three to five hundred dollars. Wish this product was closer to $50.00 instead of $68.00. Like I said, so far-so good. We'll have to see how long and/or how many copies this new cartridge makes; hopefully more than others have experienced.

Posted by: Traderdi from St Petersburg, FL on 02/12/2012Since my purchase, I have only had to purchase 3 TN-450 replacement cartridges, and I print an incredible amount of pages every day. I have not been keeping count, but have not had the "drum" light go on for replacement yet. However, I have purchased one so it will not stop "production." The pages are clear, although I admit missing colors on a few of the things I print. When I buy my next printer, I will perhaps upgrade to one with color, but this one is so fast in B&W! I would hope eventually they will make color an option, so for most things you can leave it in B&W mode, then switch on color for the occasional document, as I could choose with an old "all-in-one" when I used the scanner. Otherwise, this is PERFECT!

I use it in the office with 4-5 other employees and we print on average 100-150 pages a day...while i have not kept track of the page count it runs in tandem with our HP printer and the toner falls right in line. I would highly recommend to anyone especially for the price!

Don't count on 2600 pages!

Posted by: petlover61 from Geneva on 03/29/2011I've had this printer a week. I used the initial cartridge and installed a "High Yield - 2600 pages" cartridge. I'm getting a low toner message tonight and the machine, in total has only printed 1128 pages! That is both cartridges, not just the High Yield Cartridge. I would doubt if I've gotten 1000 pages from the High Yield Cart, printing text documents, 8x11. Very misleading.
