great all-in-one for the home or home business

Posted by: irisharty from Fort Benning, GA on 05/17/2013I have had a lot of printers but this is my second all-in-one. My last one was an HP and I can tell you this one was was a lot easier to setup. With the wifi option you don't have to ensure that all computers have the same operating system. Granted most computers these days run Windows Vista, 7 or 8 operating systems. I have noticed that there is a slightly longer delay when printing over wifi. It takes even longer when it is coming out of sleep mode. I have not printed a lot of color documents or any photos yet so cannot comment on this. The big plus is that there is an android app that allows you to print directly from your android smart phone and I have used this to print emails, docs and web pages flawlessly.

Good printer for the $$$ but,,,,,

Posted by: shadow83blk from Florida on 05/16/2013Got it home and the setup was easy and flawless. Software is a little screwy, especially the online registration. Firmware upgrade check never came up as the manual said. Started printing and realized that there is no place to insert paper except the tray, this means that you need to resize the tray and put a stack in for pictures, envelopes, cards, etc. Also it looks like there is no setting for 5x6 pictures. I will try out the different picture sizes this weekend to see if it can print 5x6.

Eats Printer Cartridges

Posted by: mjmq from Massachusetts on 05/13/2013We have had this for about a year and we all hate it. It seems to work only when it feels like it. It will not turn off and always says it is busy. We have to unplug it. It eats print cartridges. We had a color HP for years and were able to print in color with no problem. It takes forever to print It will not print in black and white if it say color is cartridge is low. I have just replaced all four cartridges which is about $50 total and now it is saying that all the cartridges are empty. Never will we buy a brother's printer again. It is also confusing to use. It started using our phone line as a fax without us doing anything that we know of.

Good All in One Printer

I also like the low price ink cartridges ....the cheapest I have found (and I researched them all). This printer is also quiet compared to other machines I've owned, and it feels pretty sturdy.
However, the print quality is only just okay. I wouldn't want to try to print anything on it that I wanted to look highly professional. It does print out my color letterhead with above average results.
Also, since the LCD screen goes dark to save power after just a few minutes, there's often no way to know the machine is "on" just by looking at it.
I believe I would buy it again.
