Posted by: awilkinson from Delaware on 06/14/2013I owned an 18-55mm lens for two years and decided to use this as my first upgrade. It's challenged me as a photographer, while still allowing me to take great pictures. Would highly recommend this lens to anyone.

Good lens for the money

Posted by: Paco2vega from Napa, ca on 05/31/2013Good lens for the price. Great picture quality and great effects at F1.4... The focus ring could be a little smother but it's ok. A nice upgrade from your basic 18-55mm kit lens. If anyone read this I would recommend save a little more money and get the 35mm 1.4. These two lenses are worth your money.
Keep in mind this lens has no Image Stabilizing do you have to play with your setting a bit to get good pics! Have fun

Very versatile!

Posted by: Mattc6288 from Nashville, TN on 05/31/2013I love this product! I have used a wide arrange of lenses and I always keep this in my bag as a backup to my 1.2! My only complaint is that the auto focus takes it sweet time. Doesn't work well with babies and toddlers.

Posted by: Kawayan from Keller, Tx on 05/10/2013this is a good buy for beginner photo enthusiast who wants to have a decent low aperture lens from canon. can't say bad about it considering that the price itself is better than the high end lenses from canon.

Must have 50mm prime lens

Posted by: shutterclick51 from Jackson, MS on 04/27/2013I upgraded from the Canon 50mm 1.8 to the 50mm 1.4 in this purchase based on the improved build quality and reputation of the f1.4 lens. While the 'thrifty fifty' f1.8 is a great lens and hard to beat the f1.4 lens is a step up. Hard to describe but the subtle differences in glass, construction of the body and overall build quality but it is an exceptional lens and worth the upgrade. I ordered the lens online and had it delivered to the store... it arrived a day earlier than projected! The Best Buy staff was great and I'm totally pleased with the transaction.
