I was in need of a zoom/telephoto for my Canon and found this one online. It just arrived today (it couldn’t get here fast enough!) and I can already tell that I’m going to love this lens! Since I’m not a “pro”, I’m not going to come out and say that this is a must have for all photographers, but if you need a zoom, know a bit about photography (or are willing to learn), and just love taking pics, then you need to add this lens to your bag.
I’m pretty simple… I love the weight. It feels solid. It doesn’t seem to have a hard time focusing, either. It’s not really a lens made for macro photography so if you’re into close ups, you’ll need a separate macro lens (or at least, stand a little further back from your subject). Image Stabilization seems to work pretty good, too. I found a 75-300mm for a hundred bucks cheaper but it lacked that feature. I think with a zoom like this, you definitely need it, especially if your hand’s not all that steady and you don’t always carry a tripod with you.
I’ve attached a couple straight-out-of-the-box photos that I took today.
Bottom line, if you need a zoom, don’t hesitate on ordering this lens. Heck, I even know a couple pros who use one regularly!

Must have for vacation
