Excellent lens! takes care of my shakey hands

Posted by: from stevensville, MD on 04/19/2012I love this lens. It's everything I needed to keep my long distance and moving shots in true focus. The image stabilization feature enables me to capture more moving or far away objects and get super sharp and perfect lighting and color balance. It is also lightweight which is nice for long shooting sessions. I hope to save enough to get the lens that is 24mm - 350mm or more so I don't have to interchange for different shots that I lose sometimes because it's in the moment and the subject may change so fast I miss a shot. But for now, I give it a 5 stars!

Its just Ok!

Posted by: from Rocky River,Ohio on 04/05/2012The 55-250mm is an Ok lens. The better choice would be the 18-135mm and or the 70-300mm

Auto-Stabilization is Key
5
Posted by: from Bend, OR on 04/04/2012What differentiates this lens from others is auto-stabilization (AS). It forgives minor vibrations and jiggles made by the user. I've tried the lens with AS on and off, and the difference is especially evident on slower shutter speeds and in low light conditions. I've priced similar lenses at $450-1000, and this one is great at just $200. At full 250 mm telephoto zoom, the image remains crisp. Nevertheless, a quality tripod and remote cable is recommended for best results.

Good for the Price
4
Posted by: from Los Angeles, CA on 04/04/2012I was looking for a tele/zoom and was in a hurry to buy. Stopped in and found this one. Can't beat the price! Used primarily for kids sports. Slows down during evening/dusk but still can get 125 or 250 for shutter speed! Overall, worth the money I paid!! Good 2nd lens after one that came with camera.

IS makes a huge difference in picture quality!
5
Posted by: from Georgia on 03/17/2012What a difference image stabilization makes! With my older DSLR, I had a 300mm telephoto lens without this feature. I was really missing out. I purchased this lens with a new Canon camera as a bundle and got it for half-price. Initially, I wanted the 300mm lens because that is what I was accustomed to with my old camera. Going with the 250mm with IS was the best choice. This lens is clear and the stabilization ensures that pictures are sharp.

Great product

Posted by: from Charlestown, IN on 03/15/2012Love it. Such a great price with the discount we got for buying it the same time we purchased our camera. Worth every penny. You don't realize how important a good zoom lens is until you don't have one.

Awesome

Posted by: from Carbondale IL on 03/14/2012Just purchased this lens to take pictures for a state wrestling tournament. The lighting is never good and we always have to sit at least 100 feet from the wrestlers. I can not discribe how awesome the action shots turned out even in poor lighting conditions. Great job Cannon!!!

Great lens for begining photographer
4
Posted by: from Evansdale, IA on 02/27/2012Got this lens as a package, with my new Cannon T3i. Works great for shooting my kids out on the basketball or volleyball courts. Takes a little getting use to,on which way to turn, to zoom in. Catures everything from one side of the court to the other. Not a pro on the fine fetures, but it gets me in on the action. Image stabilization is a godsend. Great lens for a amature.

Good zoom capability.

Posted by: from Cape Coral, FL on 02/01/2012This is an easy to use lens, auto focus works great. I would suggest you use auto focus if you are having problems of your pics coming out blurry, once you get used to the settings i would suggest using it on manual to get the pics you want. Solid body to it and works great.
