    Great Entry Level DSLR!

Posted by: from Las Cruces, NM on 05/18/2013I've been into "photography" since I can remember. In high school, I was in the photo club and yearbook committee and enjoyed taking pics for both. Owned an SLR 15 years ago but never really used it and the hobby kinda got away from me. I HAVE owned a few decent digital cameras with decent lenses on them but this is my first DSLR and I gotta say... I love it! I won't say that I'm a "photographer", although, I do shoot a lot of concerts that come through town for a website. Heck, I won't even go as far as to say that I'm a "Facebook Photographer". But I know a bit more about photography than the average shooter. If you're looking for something to get you started in photography, this camera will definitely be the one you want. "It" takes great pictures. I say "it" because I've noticed a huge difference between my last "point and shoot" and this one. BUT... you gotta know the basics, or want to learn the basics, in order to get those great shots. I've seen people with expensive DSLR's take horrible pictures and have no clue why they're taking those horrible pictures when it could be as simple as turning your flash off. Was it the camera? No, the camera's just doing what it's told to do. Give me a basic $100 point and shoot and put it up against their pictures, I can usually out do them with a few minor tweeks to the manual settings. My point is that it's a great camera for someone who's planning on learning about photography (or at least the basic settings and how to use them). If you just want a camera that you're going to put on fully automatic, yeah, it'll do just fine with that, but you can save the money and get something a little smaller and easier to use. Fully automatic doesn't always get you the professional photographer portraits you're hoping to get just because you have a "real" camera. Do I recommend this camera for someone who's wanting to get into basic photography? Oh, yeah. I even have a friend who shoots professionally with this particular model and she takes amazing shots! Pros... Cost Battery Life Image Quality Cons... Feels cheap and lightweight (although, that could be considered a "pro")

    Affordable DSLR

Posted by: from Suffield, CT on 05/17/2013I've been waiting for a DSLR that was affordable both for the camera & extra lens' This Canon fits the bill. I have another Digital Canon, but it's a point & shoot & really slow. I like to take action photos as a hobby & the sport feature allows me to take 3 photos a second. The battery life is great. I can use it all day & not worry about the battery going dead. Changing lenses is real easy too.

Posted by: from Aliquippa pa on 05/10/2013This is my first really good camera. I am pleased with its performance although I still have a lot to learn about it. It's not bulky to carry. I bought it mainly to capture nature as I enjoy watching birds. Takes a great quality picture.

Posted by: from Wichita,ks on 05/05/2013Good camera....does take quite a bit of time to figure out the various functions. Somewhat disappointed by lack of focusing in...even with additional lense being purchased.
