Release Notes

Corrosion of Conformity: Release Notes: Muze
Personnel: Woody Weatherman (vocals, guitar); Mike Dean (vocals); Reed Mullin (drums).Producers: Corrosion Of Conformity; John Custer.Audio Mixer: John Lousteau.Recording information: Evenform, Raleigh, NC; Rex's, Wendell, NC; Street Bros, Raleigh, NC; Studio 606 West, Northridge, California.Photographer: Jodi Donkel. On their eighth studio album, Corrosion of Conformity let their punk roots bubble closer to the surface, reintroducing the world to their old selves with a self-titled release 30 years into their career. Featuring the same lineup that delivered the 1985 crossover thrash classic Animosity, the album finds the band returning to the power trio format in the absence of Pepper Keenan. While this lineup may be slimmed down, it lacks none of the fury and aggression that listeners have come to expect from C.O.C., combining a raw, almost grimy guitar sound with a songwriting approach that hearkens back to their more hardcore-influenced days. This combination gives the album a decidedly retro feel, but there's just enough of the more modern version of the band in there to keep it from feeling like an out-and-out rehash of their old stuff. Acting as a kind of crossroads between the old C.O.C. and the new, Corrosion of Conformity feels more like a distillation of their career than an evolution of their sound, combining the best parts of three decades of metal into one document that fans of any era of the band's career can get on board with. ~ Gregory Heaney

Corrosion of Conformity - CD (1 out of 1)
A Dream Come True For Old School C.O.C Fans

Posted by: from Stockton, CA on 05/03/2012Corrosion Of Conformity is a band thats been through many style changes over the years. In the 80s they were a punk band and released their greatest material: Eye For An Eye (1983) ,6 Songs With Mike Singing EP (1985), Animosity (1985), and Technocracy (1987). Then in the 90s they changed their sound to a more bluesy Metallica meets Black Sabbath sound and found the singer who would appear on most of the COC albums Pepper Keenan. But recently Hes become the guitarist for the band "Down". So members Mike Dean, Woody Weatherman, and Reed Mullin regrouped (lineup from animosity and 6 songs) to release the new self titled album. I love it. Mikes still got his voice, and the music is a combined sound of COCs early work and the sound they picked up in the 90s. My favorite song off the album is "Your Tommorow". Other cool songs featuring "Psychic Vampire and"The Moneychangers< and "Leeches plus many more. Get this album.
