We used the skillet twice a month until March 2011. The base unit electrode burnt out (made a popping sound). Retired in less than three years, and of course no proof of purchase can be found. Still looking for it though!
In my opinion, you could buy four standard skillets to replace one of these and you'd still be in the good!

Best Electric Skillet Ever Owned

Posted by: WhatcanIsay from on 08/07/2008I've never written a review for any product, but everytime I use this skillet I think to myself this is the most wonderful electric skillet I've ever owned...and I've owned a lot of electric skillets...the Teflon coating ALWAYS chips on them. I was sick of replacing skillets, but then I saw this one. I thought...jeez...that's an awful expensive skillet, but if it lasts a year, I've got my money's worth by not replacing the cheap ones numerous times so I tried it. It is the most amazing skillet ever! It browns evenly throughout. It is easy to clean. NOTHING sticks in it! The Teflon hasn't chipped yet. Did I mention it browns evenly throughout? It maintains a constant temperature...I couldn't ask for a better product. Well worth the extra money if you are tired of replacing those cheap skillets that never seem to last!
