Posted by: lawn from baltimore on 11/26/2012We may have had this model for at least 5 years and never had a problem with it. We use it at least 5 times a week. It is a great product.

OK, but short life

Posted by: shadow83blk from Florida on 10/21/2012I would expect a $60 grinder to last longer than 2 years. My grinder died this morning, it just died. I suspect that it is a component on the circuit board. I also found that the plastic around the blade chamber was missing some material so I have been drinking plastic laced coffee. I bought a friend the same one for a present and hers lasted about 6 months before it died just like mine. And I believed Cuisinart to be a good name.

Noisy and Powders the grounds instead of crushing

Posted by: GregCJ from Hartland, Wisconsin on 05/31/2012I have a Proctor Silex Blade Grinder that does a nice job of chopping up the Coffee Beans with not much noise and very little dust.
I thought the Burr Grinder would be gentler and quieter but it is very loud and it produces a lot of fine dust. The dust piles up on the inside of the Grounds Receptacle on the back, top side which is just opposite the exit from the Burr Mechanism. This means the ground beans are exiting at 90mph indicating that instead of "crushing" the beans the Burrs must be rotating at extreme speeds and are just destroying the beans.
