This machine had problems at about the 6 months mark and finally stopped working completely in about a year. For the price, this thing should last beyond the 3 year limited warranty.
The pump mechanism is what has issues. At about 6 months, it started having problems pumping the hot water through k-cups. Some descaling and instructions from the manual helped, but it was never the same as it took several minutes to dribble out a cup of coffee. A few months later and it pulls in water, heats it, but just makes a moaning noise and only a few drops of hot water come out.
We're going to try the Keurig Platinum next in hopes it is better made. Really liked this Cuisinart though and wish it were simply more durable!

Posted by: miluza1 from on 04/13/2013Got this for my dorm room. I (and my friends) use it probably 3-4 a day on average and it works great! Easy to use, stays clean, and brews a fast cup of coffee. My only complaints are occasionally I'll find coffee grounds inside the "head" unit which is a little bit of a pain to clean out. I also with the water reservoir was a bit larger. Other than that, it's great. Pricey, yes, but I feel well worth it for the convenience.

Ultimately I choose the Cuisinart brand and Best Buy Geek Squad protection plan to protect the investment. After a month we are still doing fine with machine no pump problems. In fact, no problems at all. I think some of the online negative press is related to people not giving positive reviews, thus this one. The machine does everything it says and has been a huge time saver. That being said, I will update if the pump fails.

The best K-cup machine out there for the money

It stands up to heavy use and with the larger water resevoir doesn't need to be filled as often. There are 5 different serving size choices so no problem filling the larger mugs.All in all I love this machine.

I often enjoy oatmeal in the morning, and instead of waiting for water to boil on the stove, or using the microwave, I just simply use the 'hot water' option. Also the 'my k-cup' that is included is a great option for those special coffees that are not available in the k-cups.
