Not what the pro reviews make it seem

Posted by: from Orlando, FL on 05/30/2012The setup was not extremely user friendly. The speed is awful. The wireless is always dropping out. It constantly needs reboots. It does have good coverage, though. It reaches my entire 1200 sq ft apartment.

    Frustrating all around

Posted by: from New York on 01/27/2012We bought this router when we moved to our new house and we bought it because we thought it was a good deal. We also liked D Link products back in the wired router days. However, this router took us hours to set up. The set up process directed us to the default way, which we tried 5 times and did not work. We then used the manual set up, and still couldn't get it to work. We then had to call customer services - it seemed that the issue was quite common, as the customer service representative was apparently reading a script and directed us through a fairly unintuitive installation process. They could have added the script in the set up manual. The router then worked for a few days without any problem, until one day it decided to disconnect for no apparent reason. We pretty much had to reboot the router 2 - 3 times every night. It was quite annoying. The speed was so-so. We were definitely not getting what we paid our IPS for (we later switched to a different router and the speed more than doubled), but it was enough for internet surfing. The reason we decided to finally return this was because our iPhones didn't connect to wireless via this router, and the customer service asked us to call Apple (we didn't have to because our phones connected via the new router we got).

    Flakey router needs constant reboots

Posted by: from Zion, IL on 12/11/2011I've used D-Link products for years and this is the first to disappoint me. At least twice a day it needs to be rebooted because it locks up and the wireless quits working. Was told the latest firmware revision would fix it and it hasn't. It will be replaced shortly with something hopefully more reliable.

Great Router... but a pain to set up.

Posted by: from NC on 02/02/2011The guided install cd that came with the router wasn't working. It would keep telling me to do something that i already did. it just wasn't detecting it right i guess. The instructions would like skip an important step. Thankfully my brother in law is a router expert so after about 2 hours on the phone with him I was able to set it up manually. They should just include and instruction manual on how to set it up manually. It wasn't hard ya just gotta know where to look. Otherwise I could have called customer support i guess. Once i got it installed tho... Its working great. I get excellent coverage and it hasn't lost signal once.
