We had to return the first sound bar because it would turn on and off on its own. We returned it and got a new one and the same issue occurred again. We called Definitive Technology's 1-800 # and asked if they had heard of this problem and he said "Yes, unfortunately." He emailed us an upgrade that we had to down load onto a Zip drive and put into the sound bar. This helped for about a week and then the same issue happened again. W are returning the product and will not be getting another one. When it did work, the sound was good.0 out of 0 found this review helpful.

Great sound but not versatile enough for the price4

I counted inputs carefully over the course of several weeks of planning and shopping for a new home entertainment system, including 50" plasma screen and several Sonos components. I was very disappointed to learn, after the purchases were made and the boxes were discarded, that not only is an HDMI input needed to get audio out of the TV (for which I had accounted) but that the input had to have special processing ("ARC") which the DT does not. I contacted technical support at DT, and they basically told me "too bad." By the time I found all this out it was too late to return the product.
I would have been better off waiting a few weeks and buying the Sonos Playbar for $1,000 less, but who knew it was coming?
Otherwise a good product but I am disappointed in the lack of versatility.1 out of 2 found this review helpful.

We tested a lot of sound bars and finally settled with the SoloCinema XTR. It was very easy to hook up out the box and it sounds great. I would definitely recommend giving this a listen if you are looking to add a sound bar to your television.0 out of 0 found this review helpful.

Much crisper and clearer sound than from the TV alone. Big bass if you want it. Very easy set-up. Installation kit covers virtually all options: shelf, wall, etc.2 out of 10 found this review helpful.

I was excited about how quickly I was able to set this up with a flat screen, cable box and DVD as my components. Hook a HDMI from the bar to the screen, and two more HDMI's from the DVD and cable box to the sound bar and your done.
The wireless sub-woofer can be placed anywhere in the room without worrying about hiding wires and it has more than enough power to accommodate a 17x24 room.
My only complaint is the limited function of the remote control. It looks and feels good, but It only controls volume, bass, mid-range, treble and the on/off of the sources, so your forced to use your cable or DVD remote to control the other functions. It also doesn't have a back light so it impossible to see in a dark room.
I decided to invest in a better universal remote with macros and now everything is perfect.
A sound bar will never sound as good as a quality 2 or 5 channel system but if your looking to improve the sound of the T.V. without all the extra hardware this is definitely the one to buy.14 out of 16 found this review helpful.
