Posted by: Marines1212 from woodside on 04/26/2013I always believe that you must pay for quality, and Dell is a product that may sometimes be on the high side, but you'll never go wrong. I always had Dell monitor's and they were all matted screen, this is a gloss screen, which while it does get ,getting use to ; does make my work much easier , much brighter, much clear and really nice to the eye's. Don't use anything to clean the screen but a light spray of screen cleaner if possible and handle with care. This is a 27in monitor and will make your eyes easy to look with.-

Really sharp and attractive monitor

Posted by: EnoughOfThis from Berkeley on 04/08/2013The glossy glass surface, which I very much want and need for image clarity, is elevated a fraction of an inch from the actual screen surface, leaving room for reflections between the screen and the clear glass cover. It would be less pretty with the gap eliminated, and it would work a bit better.

Great IPS monitor for the price

Posted by: KenH63 from Columbus, OH on 02/15/2013Like others, I scooped this up when it was on sale for a daily deal. No regrets. Easy to setup and use, dual inputs allows me to use it for both my PS/3 and computer. Text is sharp and clear. Great monitor.
Screen is very glossy so I would not recommend this for a bright room. That is the only negative I point out.
I'm considering buying another one for a different computer.

Big screen for cheap, low quality

Posted by: alcoholbob from Dublin, CA on 02/11/2013I got this monitor and within 2 days the hdmi port stopped working with HDCP sources--my PS3 and 360 no longer display through the monitor but my laptop and PC can.
The glare is terrible and you have to be sitting right in front of it to see anything. No wonder this is always on sale.

I'm using with a 2012 Mac Mini along with my old Apple 23" cinema display. Great sale price for this 27". Am pleased with results using Adobe Photoshop/LR. Top quality picture for movie streaming. Watching movies from about 12 feet away. I'm having no problem adjusting to screen refection which is minimal with low lighting. Pretty easy to make screen adjustments.

Posted by: HenryHSCheng from San Francisco on 01/28/2013My Hannspree/Hanns-G/I=Inc 28" unit started dying after Thanksgiving so I missed Black Friday and I spent the whole of December shopping--I found the S2740L-it is pretty much the same screen size compared to my old screen (28" 16:10 is not that different from 27" 16:9). One has to view the monitor at home after calibrating it to his/her preference in order to apperciate it! 3 years of technology makes some big differences between these two LCD Flat Panels! The colour is vivid, texts are sharp after switching Image Enhance to "on" and...the whole thing looks cool and there are no hard buttons--they are all touch sensitive! BB put it on sale for a day on the 28th for $249 and they sold them like hotcakes! I would have paid $300+ for this thing...

Excellent Monitor for a Dark Room

Posted by: Trager from Scottsdale, AZ on 01/28/2013This is a fairly high quality, large display monitor. I happened by it during a hefty sale, and for that price it's absolutely amazing. Colors are extremely rich, pictures are sharp and the display itself is pretty impressive with a sort of iMac look to it. The only flaw I've run into is that any sort of light coming from behind you will pretty much ruin the experience. As long as you're comfortable working and/or playing in a dark room, this monitor is hard to beat.
