Outstanding Value

Posted by: from Kenosha, Wi on 05/09/2012This was my first projector and it has exceeded all expectations. Pictures are crisp and clear and the projector is so quiet you can't tell that if it is running! The lens was easy to adjust. I ran a line from my cable box and watched the quarter round of the NHL playoffs. It was like being on the ice! Had the unit for about six weeks and no complaints. Just ordered a larger screen. Hope to receive before Stanley cup.

Great projector for price, but...

Posted by: from Illinois on 04/02/2012It is a great projector. The picture is awesome for the price. I had a few issues and ended up returning it twice, the last time for good. The first projector, on power up, would get intermittent auto-iris errors, even when the auto-iris wasn't enabled. I would have to unplug the projector because it became completely unresponsive on a couple occasions. The second one, the auto-iris was audible from 5 feet away. You could hear it clunking away. It also got the auto-iris errors on power up, but not as often, and I was able to power it down with the remote when it happened (no unplugging). I ended up getting the Epson 6010 for $2300 more because I didn't want my wife calling me to tell me she got "the iris error" again. If it was just me using it, I would have kept it for the price. No sense in spending the extra money for a few little issues. From the little research I did, the issues are correctable with firmware updates. I don't know why Best Buy doesn't do them before they sell it. They wouldn't have had 2 projectors returned and I wouldn't have spent $3500.

Posted by: from on 02/29/2012I have a media room at home and this projector is just fantastic! great image, great quality. If you are looking for a cinema projector, this is the one. Don't forget to aquire the HDMI cable to increase the quality image. I also connected my laptop to it and i have a big monitor with great resolution.

Great projector for the money

Posted by: from Wake Forest, NC on 02/28/2012I replaced an old Panasonic 720p projector with this projector and WOW what a difference. The picture is much more bright and crisp while not getting washed out by the smallest amount of ambient light. The projector is very quiet while running and when in cool down mode. The lens shift feature is a must have feature which really works well. The only downside to this projector is its size. It is almost twice the size of my old projector which meant that I had to replace my celling mount and use the lens shift to center the picture.

Can't beat it for the money

Posted by: from Midlothian, Va on 02/25/2012Projector works and looks very good. Yes a 5000 + projector will look better but only the pickiest people would be unhappy with the picture quality. If you are at all concerned about installing this yourself let me tell you the projector is very forgiving on projector alignment. Just set it close to the middle of your screen and you can easily shift the projector lens to center it on the screen. The biggest concern would be to make sure it sits level since you will have to adjust mounting hardware to level it. There are no dial type adjustments for leveling the projector.

Super Bright and crisp picture

Posted by: from Colorado Springs on 02/22/2012We are able to allow a lot more light into the theater with this unit. It is the third projector that has been mounted in this space and far and away the best value for the money.

Better than expected

Posted by: from Wisconsin on 02/20/2012We had our reservations about installing our media room. This was all new for us. Now that it is complete, we do not know why we did not do it sooner. If the lights are all the way up, yes, the colors will wash out some. But whats the fun of watching a program on TV, a great movie, or playing the WII with the lights way up? We turn down the dimmer and then, wow, what a picture! It looks better in our room than it did in the store! While we are seated in our theater seats and immersed in our surround sound watching 106" of media, we have no desire to ever head to the theater again!
