Posted by: from Pattison, Texas on 06/15/2008First off, let us get the comparissons out of the way... The Dreaming sound similar to Stabbing Westward ONLY because they share the same vocalist. However any and all similaries end there. The Dreaming are heavier, more vulgar, far superior to SW in many ways, and have absolutely no boundaries on their music [having created a somewhat-of-a-joke record label, Dream Corpse Records or DC Records, to record and distribute the album]. 'Etched In Blood' contains many reworked versions of songs previously found on other EPs with some new songs thrown in here and there. "Beautiful", a track that appeared on the "Elektra" soundtrack, has been reworked and retitled to "Ugly" for this release. Both the older songs and newer songs are superior to anything Stabbing Westward did in my opinion, but I am a person who likes heavier, darker music with more of an edge. Fans of rock and metal, as well as fans of music in general owe it to themselves to check out The Dreaming and buy 'Etched In Blood'. You will not be disappointed. With Stabbing Westward fans, it's a hit-or-miss with The Dreaming. You may like them, you may not. Know they are their own band, not a carbon copy of Chris' old band. It's taken the band years to get this album out there and 2008 will be THEIR year.
