Posted by: niceboi from new york, ny on 04/13/2013Sounds prefectly fine to me, i find the carpet on the box tends to lift on the edges and not give the appearance as a solid box, but this on sale makes it a great choice!

Average

Posted by: Cork from Michigan on 05/24/2012Hard to rate this thing as it nothing more than a plywood box with fabric wrapped around it, which is why I rated everything average. For this product, that would be the highest I would rate it, so call it a 5 actually.
As long as the glue and screws hold it together, I'll call it good.

Needs a little extra sealant

Posted by: RyanDIY from Lancaster, PA on 05/12/2012I used Elmer's wood glue to build the box, then screwed it together, then went over my joints with the included glue, and went over that with caulk. Put in some poly-fill from walmart and slapped in a Kenwood KFC-W3013PS sub and it sounds GREAT! Excellent quality bass, tight and accurate. Hits as hard as 2. Good punch for a sealed box.

Great box for low power systems

Posted by: WaukeePaintballer from Waukee, IA on 01/26/2011Over all this box is well made, and sounds great when finished. However, the glue that comes in the box is extraordinarily cheap. I recommend going to your local hardware store and buy some quality wood glue. If you use a better glue you should not need the straps for the box. My other complaint is the pore quality of wiring terminal and speaker wire included with this box. The wire terminal can not handle anything bigger than 10ga. wire. This limits the size of amp you can use to less than 800watts.
So, unless you're willing to spend a little more for glue and a new terminal (which will probably require you to make the hole larger), or using a low power system. I would not recommend this box for you, but if you are willing to do what I mentioned in the previous sentence, than this box will work great for you and will help provide you with crisp, clean base.

Posted by: szabo from california, CA on 01/25/2010when i got it, i was a lil worried about how this box would hold up to my sub, it comes in 3 easy pieces already carpeted. the glue quality is poor, so i used carpenter wood glue instead, drenched canal groves and zip tied it down, then used the poor quailty glue on all the inside corners of the box. after it dried i added screws to the corners to better hold it together. overall if you put a lil effort into putting the box together it makes a big difference, this box is really tough, built like a rock. added pillow stuffing and it works great for my type R. the only thing i didnt like was the price 70$ seems like a bit much for a box

Posted by: royerSFGuam from san francisco on 10/13/2009great concept. just pull out the box (only 3 pieces), glue the insides and put together. when finished putting together remember to finish gluing the insides as well. just pour the glue on all edges where the pieces connect and rub your finger across so it pushes the glue through all around! then pull the zip ties on and pull tight!
dont get excited and throw your sup in before the glue dries otherwise you might blow the box apart and your car/truck cab will smell like glue. needs to dry for at least 8 hours.
i used a 12" kicker cvr with 400 watts rms on a kenwood kac-7204 bridged. this thing pounds!
i will however be changing this box because my sub is made for a ported box. I purchased this box for a temporary fix till i had enough to purchase the perfect box for my single sub.
overall this is a great box for a beginner.

Awful

Posted by: calig from on 07/16/2009I put an Alpine Type-R in this w/ a Kenwood 9103-d amp. I let the glue dry for awhile zip tied tight as possible, installed turned on and the box basically blew apart, the glue didnt hold at all every piece of wood jsut rattled so badly, i pulled it right out and returned it. I suppose you could screw each plank together but in time I doubt it will hold.
