Synopsis

Dave Grohl had been writing and recording songs since he was a teenager in Washington D.C., but it wasn't until Nirvana collapsed after the death of Kurt Cobain that Grohl opted to step out from behind the drum set and move forward as a frontman. The Foo Fighters' self-titled debut album featured Grohl playing all the instruments, but he soon assembled a working version of the band to go out on tour, and seventeen years after their 1994 debut, the Foo Fighters have weathered personal differences, a demanding touring schedule and health issues to become one of the world's most successful hard rock bands. Foo Fighters: Back and Forth is a documentary about the band in which Grohl and his bandmates talk about the band's history, perform some of their best-known songs for a sold-out audience, and work in Grohl's makeshift home studio with producer Butch Vig to record their seventh studio album, Wasting Light. Foo Fighters: Back and Forth received its world premiere at the 2011 South by Southwest Film Festival. ~ Mark Deming, Rovi

Posted by: from San Diego, CA on 06/16/2011I was one of the lucky few who got to see this video when it was first premiered in select theaters. I was hesitant to attend because I had no idea what to expect and didn't want my love for FOO to be lessened... but it was INCREDIBLE! It made me love them even more... a hundred times more! I'm comfortable saying that even people who aren't fans of their music will still love this video... it's humorous, emotional, captivating, and uplifting... and best of all it's a true story! It really allows you to have an intimate connection with Foo... I feel like I grew up with them now! I suggest checking it out.. now!

Posted by: from Tulsa, OK on 06/14/2011This is a must for Foo's fans, if you've not had the chance to see them live, that too should be on your bucket list! If you need some instant gratification, look no further, tracking the Foo's from early days through some growing pains to the making of 'Wasting Light' this film will fill in the blanks for many who were wondering what happened along the way. Great stuff..

rock n' roll history in the making

Posted by: from Columbia, Missouri on 06/14/2011I wish I could thank the guys personally for the music they've been making over the past decade or so and for keeping rock n' roll music alive. Once again, they've produced something that's nothing short of epic. Looking forward to seeing them live for the FIRST time in St. Louis this Fall. Finally.
