Because our living area room was rather large for an apartment, I worried that we wouldn't be able to find a window A/C unit that would cool the entire space. We were happily surprised by the power of this unit. It cools not only the living room, but also our kitchen area and hallway. It can be loud if you are cooling at a lower temperature, but overall we are happy with this purchase! No more sweating in the living room!

The perfect window AC

On our last electric bill the year to year comparison was significantly lower than this time last year with warmer temperatures. The fan settings and the capability to program the unit make it easier to conserve energy stay cool .

Good unit, Good price, ordering to pick up just OK

This could have easily been a Grand Slam sale except when I got to the Store I had to wait while they " dug up " my order and "pulled the merchandise". This was hours after the email saying the order was ready for pick up. Helpful associates seeing me wait came up to ask if they could help. I was out of patience by the sixth one. Real simple, you send out emails telling people not to come to the store till your order is ready. then you send an email saying your order is ready for pickup. Then when I get to the store the order should be ready to pick up. That means merchandise pulled and on a cart by customer service and paperwork ready for closure.

My house has never been so fresh. Im using it in my 12x24 size living room , all I did was point a fan towards the kitchen & it cools that down as well. Love it! My husband questioned my decision at 1st , he thought I'd be too small, but even loves it. Not the quietest but what do you expect from a window AC?? If the noise bothers you that much leave it on high for a few to cool down then put it on low.

Altogether they measure about 700 sq.ft. I installed it myself and within minutes the rooms were chilled. I was so impressed that I went out the following day to buy 8,000 BTU to replace another brand of the same size in our bedroom. Again it was superb in its cooling effect. It's not as noisy as others' reviews mentioned, which nearly put me off. It has a little humming sound but not that bad. It's energy saver works very well as the AC cuts off when the set temperature is reached. What I don't like about it is the ugly looking standard remote. The design of the remote is not 'cool' at all. Otherwise it's a perfect window AC and has an excellent value for price.

Great low-cost, high-BTU unit

Posted by: ab1247 from New York on 07/05/2012This is a solid 12,000BTU unit. It cools my entire studio apartment, bathroom and kitchen, even in harsh high-temp weather. The unit's build quality is quite good, as are the timer and sleep functions. I wish it had daytime/nightime setpoints instead.
The fan is the only major issue I take with this unit. I wish that the low setting on the fan was actually lower and consequently a quieter setting. The compressor is whisper-quiet (hard to tell when it's running). If only that fan was quiet too....
The rotating louvers may look cute, but you cannot for the life of you aim the airflow straight up. Very annoying.
Overall, for the price, a very good product.

Awesome AC just in time for the heat summer 2012

Posted by: from Forest Hills, NY on 07/05/2012In the market for an AC w/ strong btu to accomodate my junior studio (550+ sq ft) and to replace a huge outdated ac from the 80's that was so heavy. I picked this up in the end of May and was very satisfied with the options and the coolness. My apt is not your typical L shape studio. The cool air reaches even the various different rooms of the apt with ease. The remote control is a bonus and so happy I don't have to walk all the way to the ac just to turn on and off or adjust settings. When i move to a house, I can continue to use this ac which will accomdate a larger space.

Posted by: Wolfmooch from Nh on 06/21/2012Purchased this right befor the heat wave to replace my 8k noisy kenmore. Was excited until I unpacked it and realized there was just the ac unit. List two units I bought both had frames you put in and slide in the ac. Really wish it had this since it makes it a lot safer to install solo.
Also the vents have these weird discs in them that seem to difuse the airflow. All I know is we had the old one in our master bathroom and could feel it in the bedroom. Same location and 4k more btu but we can't feel the airflow no matter how we adjust the vents. Hate to admit it but the old was better if it hadn't become extremely noisy.
Debating on returning to be honest.
