Piece of Junk

Posted by: attea2d from Summerville, SC on 05/06/2013We downloaded the newest software and maps. Took it out on about a 20 minute route that we know well to test. Lost the satellite about 5 times on that 20 minute drive, although it appeared to recover quickly. We set it to a voice that gives street names. It gave street names all right. As we were driving down the highway it kept saying turn left on X street. Turn right on Y street. These are not even streets you would take to get to our route. Called Garmin support and they again updated the software and had me turn on GPS simulator and run the route. Worked perfectly on the simulator. Took it back out on the road and it again began losing the satellite and naming streets indiscriminately. Then it said searching for more accurate information and stayed that way with the exception of saying "Drive to Highway 78". We were ON Highway 78 at the time. Returned the device to Best Buy. Haven't yet decided whether to chance another Garmin but it certainly won't be this model if we do. The old Garmin Nuvi 255 we have still works fine except it is slow to get a satellite.

A lot for your money

This has more features than my older more expensive model.
It has a cool feature I really like ......lane assist before the turn.
The screen actually splits to let you know what the exit will look like in an
area that may be new to you. Great for when your're traveling.
It also has a little present speed indicator that turns red for every mile you go over the speed limit!

Great GPS for the price

Fast loading, accurate, plus lifetime maps. I don't know why people would pay $300+ for a GPS, when this does it all for about $100!

Very nice GPS

Posted by: gpiroll from Oregon,OH on 04/13/2013Replacing older moder Garmin I had. Cost to update map on it was almost as much as this unit on sale and it includes lifetime updates. Unit has slightly smaller screen the previous but speaks street names as well as shows map, even shows a "real look" pic of what exit looks like. Added bonus, even shows/warns where speed/red light camera's are coming up on your route.

Okay for the Money

Posted by: from Virginia Beach on 04/07/2013I have a TomTom , a Magellan, and this Garmin. I would say the TomTom is the best of the three. This Garmin is a little off on accuarcy of where your car is on the road. Also the screen is clear but lacks selections on map color and voices. It also will not let me add a waypoint unlike my ToTom or Magellan. Overall okay for the sale price I paid

The map is easier to follow and the turn warnings are better timed. Someone from your compant, however, needs to update the overall info on Montgomery. The Garmin doesn't recognize street names that changed two years ago. It also too often sends me to the wrong location, for example the site where Bed, Bath, and Beyond or Costco USED to be instead of where they are situated now. Many businesses, like Burlington Coat Factory, don't register at all.
