Best combo price / features for what I need4

Overall I like this unit a lot.
Since I've had the unit, it did freeze up twice, but other than that, has generally performed really well. My personal choice for this unit was the price / feature values. The lifetime map updates is a big feature as my last unit cost something like $60 to update the maps. In just a few years, that's almost the cost of a new unit.
All the basic features work great. The latest software update has really nice visuals for highway exits making which lane to be in clear, etc.
I've only got a couple of negatives and maybe one minor issue... The traffic displays are not as good as I think they could be. That is, I've got to go through an extra step to choose traffic, why not just make the traffic indications links themselves? The other issue is voice command. It's just not that great yet. It's not terrible. And it's a really cool feature, great for safety. But it can be a challenge sometimes. My only other minor issue is I'd like to customize the right side info display even more; it doesn't seem I can have both ETA and Distance to destination at the same time, but that's minor.1 out of 1 found this review helpful.

I bought this one 4 months ago and this unit was freezing from day one; no matter if it was plugged or not... I thought updates would help but nothing did.. Restarting it while driving is not fun. Not to mention missing your turn.. Garmin said they would replace it with refurbished unit? I bought brand new, why should I get refurbished one?? I would not buy this one again.4 out of 4 found this review helpful.

Spot on5

Finally had a chance to use after purchase before Christmas. It worked great and spot on routes. Located satelittes is fast and like how it is easy to use. Compared to the one in my mini-van with one runs circles around it. The only disappointment is it will not pair up with my motorcycle helmet. Should have done more research. I looked at the motorcycle versions but they are 3 times the cost and I wanted a 5" screen not 4.3."2 out of 2 found this review helpful.

So much better than my TomTom unit5

My first road trip with the 2460LMT was from Texas to Missouri. Loved the nuvi features. I found that the Australian female voice pronounces English words most clearly. Big 5 inch screen is a plus. The included windshield dash mount is durable and so easy to mount/dismount. My older TomTom Go 720 windshield mount was flimsy junk. Love the automatic split-screen view when approaching a merge/turn/veer/exit. Easy to follow the visual hot-pink highlighted road if voice commands ever unclear. Easy to find impulse-decision restaurants/gas stations/hotels etc along the travel path. Love the Gas Mileage tracking and Gasoline usage tracking. Love the time-to-destination and mileage-to-destination visuals. On major highways, traffic jam warning automatically pop-up, allowing bypass navigation. The unit powers on and off quickly, unlike my older Tom Tom unit. Garmin locates satellites much quicker than my TomTom Go 720. If you miss an exit, the garmin recalculates quickly. This garmin unit even warns you when approaching a traffic camera intersection. Sure is nice not to be forced into purchasing new maps every three months from TomTom. I researched like crazy before buying the 2460LMT. For the money, this unit gives you the most bang for your buck. No regrets.7 out of 7 found this review helpful.

I bought the Garmin nuvi 2460 to replace a Tom Tom that couldn't understand my voice commands. The Garmin worked almost flawlessly.I screwed up the port by inserting the card upside down. Garmin told me to take it to an electronics store to see if they could remove the broken card. When this didn't work. I e-mailed Garmin for their advice and received an immediate response to return it to them for repair or replacement. I mailed it to them on Monday and received the replacement the following Tuesday. This over the Christmas weekend. All of this with several e-mails from them keeping me up to date on the progress. Great service. Great product.2 out of 2 found this review helpful.

My wife and I had been borrowing our friends' smaller Garmin for several months. After doing our own research we decided that this was the best model for us. I use it all the time and don't go anywhere without it. It keeps me more focused on driving. It does everything I want and more.6 out of 8 found this review helpful.

Ended up returning Nuvi 24603

I got both the Nuvi 2460 and the new Nuvi 2595. Kept the 2595 for the following reasons: Traffic adds came on more often and across the middle of screen than on the 2595, which are less intrusive and only come across the top of the screen. Also the Nuvi 2595 supposedly has newer chip and more memory. The 2460 is far from bad and was a great price of $200 including shipping from Best Buy, but the 2012 model of the Nuvi 2595 just seemed a better choice. If I could combine the features of both into one unit, that would be desirable.
