This unit is not worth the money

Posted by: cak1 from Pa on 06/03/2012I have had 3 other garmin before this one , the others where flawless this thing is junk - will not hold the mileage on the truck side , blutooth feature is junk - cannot hear it in the truck and the caller can not hear you , tells you to turn left when it should be right , tells you that you have arrived when there is nothing but empty fields ,it takes you on non-truck routes and keeps you off truck routes- lately it took me down a mountain road that ended at a stream crossing with no way back out so had to cross the stream then it tried to get me to turn right into a closed a barricaded road that went into a field.
Takes for ever to boot up , I drove almost 3 miles before it finally came up .
Called and emailed Garmin got the " sorry not our problem you need to contact the mapping company" finally got PO and thru it out the window onto the highway.

Garmin Trucking GPS

Posted by: OzarkMark from on 03/03/2012I just ordered this product online moments ago. Ive been 18 wheeler driving with Garmin for over 5 years now. Ive tried the PC Miler portable unit & the laptop version also. Ive had the Garmin 330, 465, & will own this unit in a few days. I found the Garmin interfaces easier to use, see & hear & to have faster response times than the PC miler products. Using Garmin, double checking with road atlas & common sense, Ive kept my out of route miles at less than 5%. Its IMPERATIVE that when in truck mode you set up the height weight features of a typical 18 wheeler!!! Gross weight= 80,000, Height 13'6", Width 8'6", max weight per tandem axles= 34000. The 465 worked exceptionally well for me, have had it at least 2 if not 3 years, bought it when first released. Im replacing it because after 2-3 years of harsh use, the display gets whacky on me sometimes, changing beteeen night/day modes & detail levels randomly. It atill routes accurately & quickly, but finding a POI enroute now seems to take a LOT longer than it used to. I think its about to die on me. I feel Ive got my $ worth out of it. Saved me a lot of stress & made me look like a trucking god of trip planning to my dispatchers. I fully expect the DEZL 560LMT to deliver the goods also. BTW I still have the 330 & it still works perfectly.
