    Product Features

    Our installation professionals will:

    Connect and configure new or existing Audio and Video components in a single room.

    Setup surround sound speaker system or soundbar (un-mounted, with exposed wiring). Verify that all speakers are properly positioned and working.

    Secure the client-supplied (or manufacturer included, if applicable) mounting bracket under cabinet or to a standard frame wall.

    Additional charges may apply for mounting to surfaces other than a standard frame wall or running cables through multiple stud bays. Your Agent will inform you of these charges before beginning the installation.

    Mount and secure Flat Panel TV which is 46" or larger screen size, to above bracket.

    Route client-supplied, in-wall rated cables for A/V devices through a standard frame wall (single stud bay). (Custom Mounting must be used when crossing stud bays with cables)

    Connect the TV power cord to an existing AC power outlet (non-concealed only).

    Ensure all wall-fished cable exit points are finished off with either a wall bushing or wall plate.

    Add any network-capable devices in the system to an existing wireless network.

    Perform any critical software/firmware updates.

    Configure up to two Smart TV/Blu-Ray player apps for media streaming (i.e. Netflix, Pandora, CinemaNow, etc.)

    Establish functionality of 3D glasses for TV, if necessary.

    Program a non-learning type, manufacturer supplied, remote.

    Set parental controls upon customer request.

    Ensure that all wires and cables are neatly dressed and wire ties are used when necessary.

    Clean-up work area and remove packaging.

    Approximate time: 75 minutes. Time may vary based on home and products being installed

    The following are not included with this service:

    Concealing speaker wire in wall, or any other types of custom wire runs or mounting.

    Service does not include setup of a new router/network. Client must purchase Home Networking Service.

They have generally been a hard company to deal with, especially when it comes to contacting them over the phone or via internet. This experience was no different, unfortunately. I had read a bunch of bad reviews of the Best Buy internet based scheduling, and internet based purchase of this TV installation service, so I decided to call Best Buy directly to schedule. It took two calls, 4 transfers, and over an hour of total hold time before I was speaking to someone who knew about the TV installation service and could answer my basic question about how they would frame the holes in the wall for the cable run. I was told I needed to speak with an "advanced scheduler" then, so it took another 2 transfers and another 30+ minutes of hold time to purchase the service and get it scheduled. Overall, a very bad experience. The Best Buy phone team was a "D" grade at best. If you've read this far, you may be wondering about the high marks I gave Best Buy in my ratings. Those marks were based solely upon the actual home visit and installation. Once the pain of actually purchasing the service from Best Buy was past, things got much better. The installation team arrived on time, made some good suggestions as to the exact height and location for the TV wall mounting, and installed all the equipment well. They took time to explain and demonstrate things to me as well. The team made recommendations as to how I could run my own additional cables through their cable run in the future, should I decide to add components. Overall, the install team was an "A+".

    Posted by: from Lakewood Ranch, FL on 02/22/2013Ordered TV, wall mount, and installation all at same time online -- selected an available installation date, first, then ordered equipment. 60" TV was delivered; picked up wall-mount at local Best Buy and confirmed appointment with Geek Squad there; bought a sound bar at Best Buy. Geek Squad didn't show on day of appointment, then claimed appointment a week late -- when I'm a thousand miles away. Geek Squad: never again.

    Posted by: from Dallas, TX on 02/11/2013I saw alot of bad reviews here for this service so I wanted to give my honest opinion. The installer came on the day and time as promised. He had 2 other installers come out to help. I had a 64 inch plasma mounted, 5.1 speakers installed on the ceiling. I also had my 58inch plasma moved and mounted in another bedroom. At first I told them I wanted my 58inch mounted at a height I preferred despite the geek squad installers suggesstion. As it turned out the geek squad installer was right. I was not happy with the height the TV was mounted and they took down the TV and remounted to the height that was perfect. They had no complaints and were very professional. They hooked up all my components, concealed all wires, mounted my surge protector to the back of my cabinet, and cleaned up any garbage left behind. MY TV and sound system looks and sounds amazing!!!

When I called was given a window of 8am-noon on 1/24/13. Took time off from work to be home. The day before I called to confirm and to let the the Squad know I had no bracket for mounting. The call center in India said not to worry they will bring everything. The next day get a call at 9:30 am telling me what I paid $269.00 did NOT INCLUDE mounting TV. Having a friend mount it now. They are so confused and disorganized, and I LOST 5 hrs of work!!! Very Disappointed!!!

Then they got to it. As concerns arose, they told us the issue and possible solutions. They cleaned up after themselves and even helped me figure out an issue on another TV that I had been suffering with for over a year. Now our new TV is installed, our new surround sound is hooked up and it was painless. Thanks again for such great service.

I should have listened to the other poor reviews. Geek squad told her that actually mounting the tv on the wall would cost an extra $100. The service ended up being completely worthless. Unfortunately this continues a string of very poor experiences with Best Buy for me.

    Posted by: from seattle on 01/03/2013i bought this package in the store, then when i got home i read some reviews and really started to sweat because of all the horrid reviews. but i figured i would give it a shot, glad i did. the only thing that went "wrong" was that i didn't get a confirmation email after my purchase (which gives you the time estimate) and i didn't get a call the day before to give me a time window. I had to call myself, at which point they told me i was 12-4. The agent called me around 2pm and said they would be there within 30 minutes, which they were 20 minutes later. they were fast, knowledgeable and friendly. they set everything up for me (even the wii) even though i could have done it myself. i wanted hidden wires, but they said no matter what, they can't hide the power cord so i would have at least one cord hanging out (accurate info?) so i opted to have the wires covered with that plastic casing. other than that they were in and out in less than 40 minutes, which makes me feel like the price should have been lower since it's so "easy" when you know what you're doing, otherwise I'm happy.
