Receiver hook up
2
Posted by: from on 03/15/2013I paid $169 for someone to come out and just hook up a receiver. The first team that came out was very good but it turned out the receiver was bad so I had to take it back and get a new one. Since all the speakers were in the place I wanted them and the components were where I wanted them they sent just one person out next, but after 2and a half hrs he still couldn't get it hooked up right. So I asked him if he's come across where 2 of the same items where bad and he said yes a few times. Now the 2 guys that were here for the first one said that there was nothin wrong with my components or my tv, but this guy said that there must be something wrong with my inputs on my tv's hdmi even though the first 2 had instruments with them that could detect something wrong with them and said it couldn't be the tv. The guy that was here the second time kept getting calls on his phone wanting him to meet someone for lunch. So he finally said he could hook it up in a way that it would work but suggested I not mess with the settings on the eq and all the different sound presets. On top of the $169 for the installation I paid over $400 for the receiver so I could have different presets for my cable, blueray, games, and music. So now I'm stuck with a receiver that in my opinion is bad and can only listen to one preset for all of my different needs. I urge u unless u can't get to the back of ur tv and components read the instructions and hook it up yourself. Geek squad is totally useless. The only reason I gave it 2 stars is cause I believe the first 2 guys were good and knew the receiver was bad but the other guy just didn't want to admit that yet another receiver was bad.

Not worth the money.

Posted by: from Escondido, CA on 02/26/2013Didn't call in advance. Showed up at the very end of the allotted time frame. I paid to have the TV hung on the wall with all wires hidden. When they left, the power cord was still hanging down from the TV, exposed. I later ran the cord behind the wall myself.

Posted by: from Chicago, IL on 02/22/2013I love Geek Squad! The service is prompt and top quality! Ernesto deserves a raise and a promotion! ZVOX sound bar is just what we needed for our flat screen tv. It brings the voices out, and balances great.

Posted by: from La Mirada CA on 02/12/2013I wish the installers gave more training on how everything works. There is still so much that I don't know how to do with the TV and home theater system

Terrible

Posted by: from Peoria, AZ on 02/08/2013Just terrible overall. Terrible customer service. Left trash at my house and took parts I need to complete the hanging job they did not complete and would not return my calls. If you get a tech by the name of Rich I strongly urge you to request another one. Happy to say the store I purchased from cleaned up the mess.

"We're gonna mount the TV we brung"
1
Posted by: from Lakeland TN on 12/11/2012I am writing this review while these two novices are handling my 5 definitive technology speakers, pioneer elite receiver and 55'' panasonic. After spending nearly 4K on equipment, I am severely disappointed with this service provided by the geek squad. After my in home consultation (which was fantastic by the way!) the guys came out to install everything last week. My "old" TV apparently was defective and they were unable to mount it. I had to buy a new TV and reschedule for today! my appointment was from 8-4 this morning. I got a call at 8 from Jonesboro arkansas? saying that they wouldn't be here until 10. They showed up at 11. Then realized that they cannot mount the TV with an in wall power extension because there is a shower on the opposite side. I mentioned returning the entire system to the store and dropping the whole thing. The agent said "whatever you want to do". I wonder if the store GM would make the same comment about losing this sale.... I settled to have them mount the new TV on the wall with all the wires dragging out the bottom of the TV. It looks decent I suppose... I should have spent the extra money and gone with a local audio/video company to install my home theater system. What a disaster. The boss also came to my house initially. She asked if I had an in home consultation. Thats when I knew this was going to a disaster. She had no idea about the policies, equipment, pricing. They even asked for my wifi password so they could access the internet in my home on their computer. Overall, nice people, but I was looking for more than that to get the job done right. There is severe lack of knowledge, expertise, customer service/people skills. Nice try, geek squad.

Yikes!
1
Posted by: from West Des Moines, IA on 09/22/2012Agent came in to install my apple TV, and new Denon 1913 receiver and integrate them into my system and into my Harmony remote I'd bought from them a few years ago. The agent was a very person but the outcome blew! I only get sound from some channels, the sound from my movie rentals via iTunes is totally gone, volume varies SIGNIFICANTLY from one channel to the other, and my cable box, whereas b4 was fully integrated into the Harmony remove, now requires manually to be turned off and then back on once I power the system up so that the "Denon" sign goes away and video/cable/tv input's on the screen. Tee'd me off wicked. I can only hear the sound of the audience and not the announcers on football,...blows!! The agent told me it's the receiver's fault, for recognizing so well audio input from different sources, and the cable broadcaster's fault.

Geek Squad tech's, Tom and Jake were awesome.

Posted by: from Pueblo West CO on 08/10/2012Had BB tech, Jake, do a home theatre consulation. He was very professional and told us exactly what we needed and gave us directions on how to hook up the Pioneer AVR 1122-K. We were able to make the appropriate connections but could not make the. Zone 2 control our home speakers independently of our surround sound speakers. Had to purchase the whole room setup for $169 in order to have a tech come out and show us how to use the AVR 1122-K. BB tech, Tom, came out and helped us make the appropriate settings to control our surround sound and in home speakers. Tom was very knowledgable and helpful. He took his time and "trained" us on how to set the AVR to our system. He also assisted us with our Harmony remote. In fact, he left and I had another question, so I called his cell and he returned and showed me how to correct the issue I had. My only complaint is, all wires etc, were properly connected. All BB had to do was train us on using the equipment, yet we had to pay for the whole room theater set up. BB should have a "training" package that is not so expensive. Tom was at my house 45 - 60 minutes. That is a short time for the 169 we had to pay. But at least my system is running the way I want it to and I understand how to make programing changes.

Great job setting up my difficult system
5
Posted by: from Godwin, NC on 06/21/2012The Geek Squad called to verify they were on their way and got accurate directions. I have a Yamaha Adventage RX-V3010 AV Receiver that is 11.2 with an attached amplifier or receiver for the rear presense speakers which is a Yamaha RX-V1400 AV Receiver. They repaired one in-wall speaker that a wire had gotten loose then made sure the speakers connected to the RX-V1400 were set up and working properly. He also set the RX-A3010 was set up to use the RX-V1400. He calibrated the system and taught me how to calibrate it should it go down. They cleaned up after they finished and were very courteous. Great job, Geek Squad!
