    Posted by: from Minneapolis on 03/31/2013I've been using an iPad and laptop application for listening to internet radio and wanted a permanent unit to plug into my home sound system. this unit does that well, just plugged in a headphone cord to the tape inputs on my receiver and front panel of this radio (included in box). Surprisingly good sound from the built in speaker too. The searching through 40,000+ plus stations is possible by genre, frequency, location. Take your time, its worth it. the station preset buttons are easy and intuitive. Do a little research and if this radio has the features you need, buy it.

In December 2012 the city of Chicago fire department switched their radio communications to an all digital system and people can no longer use a basic VHF police scanner to listen in on incidents. We were able to successfully program this unit to listen to a live audio stream of the dispatch audio from the website radio reference.com. This box has been connected and running now 24/7 for 2 months and is going strong.

We regularly listen to music from all over the world, and can choose either by country or by genre in the music search. We have had it for a good couple of years without any problems. I still find it puzzling that these radios have not caught on considering the fantastic selection of free music available.
