Posted by: FrankPineapple from Clifton, NJ on 12/28/2012Two of these ovens blew up within 2 years of used, after the second one popped and died I decided to go with another brand is not worth it. Also the fan is so loud when extracting smoke from the stove that your ears can't stand it for more than a couple of minutes.

Decent inexpensive OTR microwave oven
4
Posted by: rschoonh from Chatsworth, CA on 04/17/2012Got this at about $150 on sale at BB; a very good price for an OTR microwave. Liked it because of price and simplicity of controls. Also, it was a close match for our old (malfunctioning) GE microwave. The build quality seems decent, although only time will tell whether it stands up well to daily use. It has a nice simple control panel with the bonus of an "Add 30 seconds" button for when the food seems to need a bit more zapping. At the price, the inclusion of the rotating cooking tray is a nice plus. It conveniently does away with the necessity for stopping the micro to rotate food manually, as with our old oven.
Installation was easy using the included templates that just tape to the wall. In fact, two of the three top holes aligned with those used for our old micro, so it turned out to be really easy. Lifting it into place and securing it is a two-person job, though -- don't make the mistake of trying to do it all by yourself.
My two chief complaints about this oven are: First, it is unusually and surprisingly loud in operation, to the point that you almost can't hold a conversation in the room with it running. Second, and less important, the surface light used to illuminate the cooktop below is so dim as to be almost useless. I'm not sure whether it is possible to simply substitute a higher wattage bulb for the one provided or not, but it needs to be much brighter.
All in all, for the money paid, and doing the installation myself, I'm pleased so far.

Problems with Handle
3
Posted by: KjWa from Dallas, TX on 02/05/2008This came with my house. The handle breaks off very easily. The bottom broke twice and we superglued it twice. Now the top has broken off and I don't think superglue will do the trick this time. Overall cooking with the microwave has been fine. It seems to cook food in the recommended "normal" times. Also, I would prefer a microwave that had a rotating base to cook the food more evenly.
